Wealthy Web Writer Reveals How One Simple Recipe Can Mean Thousands to You as a Writer Online
“There is no reason for any individual to have a computer in his home.”
Stated in 1977 by Ken Olsen, CEO of Digital Equipment Corporation
(which no longer exists as a company)
My goodness … how quickly things change.
It seemed like it was just a few months ago that we started the Web division of AWAI and our weekly newsletter Wealthy Web Writer. Maybe it seems that way because it really WAS just a few months ago …
And now we’re all grown up and moving out into our own “little house on the web prairie.”
But before you read about the changes we’re making, I want you to watch my video. Not only did I have a blast making this video, watching it will give you some insight into what our new venture is all about (and it might help you win our contest!)
… Did you watch the video?
OK, good.
Here’s why we’re doing what we’re doing …
When I took a good look at what it would take to make money online as a writer, what I saw resembled a mile-long pasta bar with every kind of sauce and pasta you could imagine.
As you now know, I happen to like lasagna. A lot.
So, where, in that mile-long pasta bar could I find a simple plate of lasagna? And if I liked the lasagna, would there be any instructions available on how to make it for myself?
Here’s the truth as I see it. There is SO much happening on the web … and it’s all changing at breakneck speeds.
Nobody – and I mean NOBODY could single-handedly keep up with all the technology, let alone the new stuff that pops up just about every day.
Not me. Not you. Not even Nick Usborne (sorry, Nick, but it’s true).
We need a good RECIPE or ROADMAP for success … and that roadmap has to be highly adaptable and dynamic. It can’t be written once and forgotten.
And the only way to create such a dynamic, ever-changing roadmap is through a group effort.
Out of Confusion Comes Clarity
When we brainstormed various ideas on how to help you, our loyal readers, keep pace with the changes online, we realized that a newsletter just wasn’t going to cut it. We needed something more … robust.
Whatever we came up with, we knew it had to be social and user-centric.
We can’t possibly continue to serve your needs by spoon-feeding you a little of this and a little of that week after week. We need a way to interact with you, and have YOU take over the helm from time to time.
Thus was born the concept for the Wealthy Web Writer website:
- Content structured and organized to give you more of what you need … faster …
- Specific content areas for beginners to answer your most basic questions …
- One full content area dedicated to getting clients and growing your business …
- Detailed “How To” articles, seminars, webinars and podcasts …
- Recordings of live events …
- And WAY more than I can mention here.
As we plugged more and more into our concept, we soon realized just how much we need your involvement in the evolution of the site, otherwise we’ll go the way of Ken Olsen and his now-extinct company.
Wealthy Web Writer simply and clearly MUST be driven by its members (that’s you). There’s no two ways about it.
To do it any other way would be utter suicide online. We see this every day … websites who refuse to interact with their constituents are failing. It’s an increasingly social world, and that’s that!
But, to quote American Express, “Membership has its privileges.”
We want to make the site truly special for those writers who are more serious about making a good living online. To accomplish this, we decided to create …
Two Membership Levels
We’ll have two levels of membership – Free (what you have now) and paid membership. We’re calling them the “silver level” and “platinum level.”
As a silver level member (where you are now), you’ll continue to get the same quality articles and tips, with the occasional free webinar or seminar.
Platinum level members will get a LOT more.
More … detailed “how to” articles and videos … more live seminars … peer reviews … case studies …
Platinum members can ask us to review software for them. We’ll buy it, test it, and let you know if it’s worth the price.
Platinum members can ask us ANY question … and we’ll find the answer.
And here’s the best part of all:
YOU, our members, are in control of what you get or don’t get. You tell us what you want, and we’ll do everything we can to make it happen.
We’ve also created a NEW Twitter account and Facebook Fan Page specifically for you. This way we can easily keep you up on the latest developments … and you can let us know what you’re thinking!
And now … (drum roll, please) …
THE CONTEST
Here’s the link to enter the contest.

Great article and I look forward to visiting the site as it develops. The competition is exciting, and encourages one to enter, in that here we have a change to direct this new site in order to meet our needs.
However, though I have read twice through both this page and the contest information (through the link) I cannot find the contest deadline anywhere. It's late at night here, and I may be missing the date, so I'll be suitably humble if it is indeed here and I'm simply missing it.

Thank you for your comments Ann.
The deadline for this contest is October 15th. I look forward to reading your entry!

This sounds like a great idea if it is priced low enough and delivers actual help for the newbees like me. I will get some ideas in for the contest.

I think your point about there being lots of ingredients, but less detailed 'recipes' for putting it all together is a good one.
My experience is that the best writing and most user-friendly website possible won't make sales if nobody shows up. That makes a crucial part of the recipe the ability to increase visibility and drive traffic the web site.
My request is for step-by-step details about increasing natural search engine visibility as well as driving traffic through paid means like PPC, banners, etc.
Thanks!
