Any Questions? I’ve Got Answers!

I love Mondays when they start out like today!

Last week, I sent you a note about the training program I’m holding later this month called YourFreelance Website in Four Days’ Express Webinar Series …

And this morning, my inbox was FULL of emails about it.

I had a strong feeling AWAI members would be excited about this series, because every freelancer ― regardless of specialty ― needs a website. And, I know from personal experience how difficult it can be to just “get it done” already.

I had my own website on my “to-do” list for 2 years before I finally got it up and running!

So, I was excited this morning to see just how many AWAI members are serious about committing to their own freelance business, and getting their website up and running ― once and for all.

I only have one regret …

I wish I had put this together for you sooner!!

Needless to say, this week is going to be a busy one. But, if you emailed me a question this weekend, or plan to this week, I will do everything in my power to get back to you in time for you to register before the deadline this Friday.

But in the meantime, I went ahead and collected what seem to be the most common questions you have and included them, along with my answers, below.

Q: What if I’m still in the beginning stages of my freelance career; is it too soon to build my own freelance website?

A: It’s never too soon, and having your website up and running will help you commit to starting your business now! Plus, it’s always better to get your website up sooner rather than later, since it will take some time for the search engines to really start sending traffic.

And, since you’re learning how to do everything yourself with this series, once it’s up, you’ll be able to change it and update it any time you want! That means as you continue to gain more skills and experience, and have even better samples and testimonials, you’ll be able to easily edit your website yourself to showcase them and attract even more clients.

Q: I have a freelance business, but I’m not a copywriter. Is this series still good for me?

A: Absolutely! A freelancer’s website is their “21st Century Business Card.” Most of the elements are the same for all freelancers; it’s just going to be the specific copy that’s different.

We’re going to cover all sorts of freelance specialties in the series. And remember, as an attendee, you also get the bonus “Content Essentials Guide” so no matter what your freelance specialty is, you’ll have clear direction on the content you need. Copywriting, resume writing, design, B2B, publicity … everything will be covered. And if, for some reason, your specialty isn’t covered, just ask for it to be added and I’ll make sure it happens.

Q: What time are the live sessions, and what if I can’t make it?

A: The live sessions will take place at 7 p.m. ET 9/27, 9/28, 9/29, and 9/30. They’re scheduled to run for an hour, but depending on the number of questions, could run over. I want to make sure nobody is left behind, so I’ll be staying on until every last question is answered.

As for recordings, yes, the sessions will be recorded and you’ll be able to access them 24/7, forever. That way, you can listen at your own convenience, as well as access them any time you need a little refresher.

Q: Will you be selling the recordings in the future?

A: I haven’t made a final decision yet, but it’s unlikely. The purpose of this series is to teach you what you need to know in order to get your website up in four days. That means you need to get all of your questions answered in that time period, too … which would be impossible if we just sold the recordings and weren’t available to help you.

In addition, we’re providing you with a custom evaluation of your website once it’s up, giving you ways to improve your website. So, we need to limit the number of people in the program to ensure we’re able to handle the workload, and provide high-quality, detailed evaluations to every attendee.

Q: When can I start asking questions about my website?

A: Since we’re doing this as a webinar series, you’ll be able to ask my guests and me any questions you want during the live events. In addition, the forum will be active by the first day, so you can post any questions you may have there as well.

And remember, this is a very comprehensive training program. So, whatever questions you have right now about your website, there’s a good chance we’re going to answer them during the series.

Q: Will I just be learning more theory, which I’ve already taught myself thanks to Wealthy Web Writer?

A. No, this is a step-by-step, hands-on training program. You will be writing the copy, and actually putting up the website during the sessions.

That being said, the first session will contain some “theory,” since I want to make sure everyone participating really knows what makes a good website, and what makes a bad one. That’s why I’ve asked Nick Usborne to join us for the first session. He’s going to show us examples of each, as well as explain why. After that, it’s all practical application.

Q: Would you recommend I purchase a domain before the 4-day webinar?

A: Do not buy anything before the series. We’re going to go through everything step-by-step, including decisions on domains, hosting, and platforms.

Of course, if you already have a domain, hosting, or even an old website, don’t worry. You’ll still be able to re-use everything if you want.

Q. Will we be building our websites using Wordpress?

A: Yes, we’ll be using Wordpress since it’s truly the best platform out there for non-techies to use on their freelance websites. And, just to be sure we’re on the same page, we’ll be using the content management system available at Wordpress.org, not to be confused with the blog website at Wordpress.com.

Q: Will you be supplying templates for our sites we can use?

A: No, but I’ll give you a list of recommendations. I decided not to choose one theme or template because I don’t want everyone to have the exact same website.

But, I’ll make sure you have enough free and paid theme options, to make sure you get exactly what you want.

Q: Will our website include the ability to have newsletter sign-ups, blog capabilities, and the other necessary marketing tools?

A: Yes ― because we’re using Wordpress, you’ll be able to choose the “plug-ins” you want to use to add these things to your website.

AND, just this weekend, I’ve even decided to throw in ONE MORE BONUS …

Since this series is focused on getting up a professional freelance website in four days, we’re somewhat limited with how much we can include, without bogging everyone down with too much information.

So, the series starting on September 27th will work on getting your website up.

Then, in October, we’re going to hold a couple more bonus sessions, including one on all the things you can do to further enhance your website, and another one on things you can do to drive potential clients to your website. And, you’ll get to attend them both ― free.

And, of course, these new bonus sessions are in addition to everything else you’re entitled to with this series. Make sure you check out all of the bonuses I’ve put together for you here. Any one of them is worth the price of admission, and you get them all free.

I hope this answered some of your own questions ― but if you have others, the Member Services team is standing by to answer them. You can reach them toll-free at 866-879-2924 or at 561-278-5557.

Or post your questions below and I’ll answer them directly!

If you’re going to work for clients, you need a website.

And, I’ve put together a program that will teach you how to do it yourself, without spending a lot of time and money, and without any of the headaches and frustration you’d experience trying to figure it out for yourself.

Let’s do this together.
