Is It Time For You To Upgrade?
Ever had one of those days where everything that could go wrong, did?
I just had one of them not too long ago.
As a copywriter, I’ve come to the point where my livelihood is dependent on my laptop.
But on this particular day, it decided to play games with me. It constantly gave me the all-too-familiar “blue screen of death” that plagues systems running Windows.
Short of smacking it with a hammer, I tried everything I knew to get it working again.
I’ll spare you the details. Basically it was time to upgrade and get a new one.
So I did.
And all I can say is WOW.
What a difference an upgrade can make. Instead of waiting what seems like an eternity, my laptop now is up and ready in seconds. Programs load as fast as I can click them.
And, I don’t get the blue screen o’ death!
While I was in awe, admiring the speed and efficiency of my new laptop, I got to thinking …
Upgrading a computer is no different than upgrading your skills as a copywriter.
There comes a point where your current skills (hardware) are not compatible with what clients will want you to do (software).
A prime example is writing for the web.
Nowadays, practically every client wants web copy.
The Internet is simply where more and more ad dollars are flowing.
And those copywriters who haven’t yet “upgraded” their skills from the traditional direct-mail days will be incompatible with these “high-tech” clients.
That’s why if you haven’t already upgraded you skills, you should seriously consider it.
Clients nowadays want PPC ads … landing pages … home pages … sales pages … email autoresponders … on and off-page SEO … blog postings … and much, much more.
Gone are the days where you’ll be asked to solely write a big direct-mail package
(heck, even the world’s biggest, most profitable direct-mailers are using the web too).
So if you don’t have the skills to write these online copy projects, clients will turn to someone else who can. Leaving you with the short end of the stick.
Don’t let that happen.
Give your copywriting skills and business an ‘upgrade.’ Learn how to write for the web, if you haven’t already.
The best (and fastest!) way to do so?
Once you do, you’ll say WOW.
You’ll find that clients are easier to land … projects are quicker to finish … and increasing your income becomes easier than ever before.
