Big Changes at AWAI

“The first step towards getting somewhere is to decide that you are not going to stay where you are.” – J. Pierpont

Last year we watched our industry transform into something new and even bigger …

The demand for freelance copywriters, researchers, designers, web writers, b2b copywriters and other freelancers exploded! And, while this was happening, many AWAI members made the decision to get serious about living the writer’s life and take control of their lives once and for all.

It was a year of great opportunity and even greater success.

And it looks like 2011 is going to be even better.

So after many discussions about how we can help you achieve your dreams, and at the same time help the marketers and business owners who so desperately need you find you, Rebecca and I came up with a solution …

Around the office we’ve been jokingly calling it AWAI 2.0.

It’s basic purpose is simple: To get you focused on where you want to be, and then get you there as quickly and efficiently as possible.

We’ve got lots of surprises in store for you, but the first big change you’ll see is the way we communicate with you via email.

With so many jobs, opportunities, and changes taking place, we want to make sure you’re getting the information you need to succeed.

We’re calling it The Writer’s Life – a FREE daily service from AWAI.

As far as the number of emails you get goes, don’t worry – it won’t be going up. In fact, it may go down a bit. But what’s inside your daily email is where you’ll find the biggest change …

Each week we’ll work together with AWAI’s extensive Advisory Board to bring you …

More job opportunities, more strategies for improving your writing and building your writing businesses, more member success stories that you can follow, more tools for landing clients and making more money from your writing …

Rebecca and I are very excited to bring you this new service.

And, we’re kicking things off with an article published in December I’d like you to read today called, A Little-Known, Yet Powerful 11-Step Action Plan for Leading a Successful, Happy Life. (If you’ve already read it, today’s a good day to re-read it!)

It’s one of those things you come across in life that makes you think:

"I wish I'd read this years ago."

AWAI Member Peggy Dallmann said about it: “I like this list so much, I printed a copy to keep next to my computer for the new year. I especially like the three questions in #7, but all are important to remember. If a person tries to conform to this list, 2011 will be happy, productive and successful.”

You can access the article here.

And once you’re done reading it, I invite you to join Peggy and add your comment about which of the steps you plan to work on this year.

  1. I'm especially working on these points:
    1. Become an expert in something.
    4. Be prepared for whatever you do.
    5. Exercise and eat healthy.
    6. Think big and make a detailed blueprint.
    11. Help people find solutions.

  2. Thank you for repeating this information: repetition helps reinforce these life-changing messages, especially for someone like me who can become so easily distracted!

    Take care.

  3. Great list, John! For me,

#1 Yes, I've found something to be #1 at!
#5 A new partnership w/ a premier Dr. in alternative medicine.
#6 Not castles in Spain, but a condo in Quito.
    #11 A good reminder.

    I've got a feeling...that 2012 is gonna be a good, good year!
