Take Action During the First Week of the New Year

Happy New Year!

Can you believe it’s already 2011? It always amazes me how fast time flies.

You know how it goes …

First you have an entire year ahead of you. Then, the next thing you know it’s April! Then summer is over … and it’s “how the heck did it get to be October?!”

That’s the reason why every year I spend the first week of the New Year taking at least one big action towards achieving my goals for the year.

I find it helps jump-start the year, and then time doesn’t slip away from me as easily.

This week, I’m planning to bite the bullet and contract a developer to build the website I want to launch this year. It’s scary actually making the commitment, but I know it’s the action I need to take if I want to achieve my goal this year.

What about your goals? What’s one action you can take this week that will move you towards achieving them?

If you’re just starting out and looking for a way to begin, maybe spend this week putting up your freelance website and researching a list of 50 potential clients you’ll contact next week.

If you’ve been doing this a while, and you’re looking to increase the revenue from your current clients, spend this week developing proposals for your best clients that will take the relationship to a much larger level this year.

And, if launching or growing your web-writing business is one of your goals, then commit to doing it sooner rather than later by signing up for the 2011 Web Intensive.

I may be biased since I developed the event based on my own 13+ years of experience in online marketing working with web copywriters …

But I can promise you, it’s like nothing else you’ve ever experienced.

For starters, we keep the group of attendees small. That way, we can ensure that you’ll get enough attention from the instructors and me.

And because it’s a small group, we’ll be able to stick together for the entire event. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, breaks, evening activities … we can stick together and really get to know each other … and that creates a solid support system for you when you head home.

Next up is the focus of the sessions. When it comes to web writing, the issue has never been about finding opportunities. There are loads of them … and new ones keep popping up every year.

The actual issue is focusing on the ones that are easy to break into, so you can move forward and start working with clients right away.

That’s why each year I plan the agenda around what research shows the industry will demand that year, and then make sure our instructors are able to teach you everything you need to answer that demand.

Which brings me to the sessions themselves …

The Web Intensive is not a “sit back and enjoy the presentations” kind of event. Our goal is to have you up and working by the time you return home. And, that’s why our instructors have you writing web copy during the event. Rather than just learning a bunch of theory, you’ll get hands-on, practical writing experience instead.

According to ehow.com, when people listen passively in a lecture-style environment, they retain 20% of the information presented.

But, when they are given a chance to practice what they have just learned, that percentage increases to 75%!

Christine Butler attended the Web Intensive in Las Vegas and experienced it firsthand …

“ … I headed off to Las Vegas with high hopes and attended the class. I call it a class because to me it turned out to be much more than a ‘sit-and-listen’ seminar. The speakers actually taught us something we could use. The how-to-do things and what-not-to-do’s of web writing.

“Suddenly, I felt confidence that I’d been lacking all along. The experts watched over my shoulders as I actually sat down and wrote real copy. I learned how to write emails, autoresponders, web pages, and more. Before attending, I didn’t even know what a landing page was. But now I’m confident I can write one, and I understand what it’s for and where it fits into the scheme of things.”

And finally, since knowing how to write web copy simply isn’t enough, there’s the entire getting clients program we weave throughout the entire event.

With the help of Joshua Boswell and all of the instructors, you’ll craft a personalized roadmap during the event that you can follow when you return home, to launch your business and land the clients you need. (Although some attendees last year decided to use the techniques during the event and landed clients BEFORE returning home!)

It’s this detail of the Intensive that attendee Merrisa Davis found most helpful …

“I just wanted to take a minute and tell you what a transforming experience the Web Copy Intensive has been for me. From the wisdom offered by masters such as Joshua Boswell and Nick Usborne to the great networking opportunities to the atmosphere of teamwork, this Intensive has unlocked my hidden web copywriting potential. Even my drive and stamina are revitalized.

“But, I think of all the perks and advantages this conference has to offer, what I valued the most was the way I was inspired to find paying clients. Not only do I know HOW to find them, but I also have the will to go out and actually do it. After all, that’s the only thing standing between me and the lifestyle I want! So thank you, Rebecca, for giving me this life-changing opportunity.”

So, if launching or building your web-writing business is on your list of goals this year, I highly encourage you to join us this year in San Diego at the 2011 Web Intensive starting February 27th.

Spend just three days with my team and me, and you’ll leave San Diego a working web copy specialist, with a paid assignment — guaranteed.

I’m dead serious.

Because by the time you’ve gone through the presentations with these gurus …

By the time you finish with the “hands-on” labs we have planned for you …

And, by the time you’ve had all your questions answered by these top web writers …

There is no question in my mind that you’ll be MORE than ready to tackle any one of the dozens of web assignments I need completed.

And, if by any chance it takes you more than one pass to complete it and get it to where we need it to be, don’t worry. AWAI’s marketing team will personally work with you until it’s great.

That’s my promise to you.

What’s more, do an exceptional job and you may get a call from me once you’re back home. If that’s the case, you can be sure I’ve got more web assignments I want you to complete.

What do you say?

If you’re truly serious and committed to furthering your copywriting career, then writing for the Web isn’t an option.

It’s a must.

Billions of dollars are moving online every month. In fact, online advertising expenditures will eclipse print advertising this year. And, the window of opportunity is wide open for you to claim your stake.

You can get all the details about the 2011 Web Intensive here.

But, here’s something else that I'm extremely excited about ...

To make sure you're 100% prepared to take full advantage of the skills and experience you'll receive at this year's Web Intensive, I want to help you develop a rock solid plan for you to focus on.

Once you sign up, I will arrange a time for us to talk by phone.

We'll talk about where you are in your career, where you want to be (and how fast), your income targets, your strengths, your weaknesses, how much money you want to make, and so on.

We'll put together a career blueprint for you that will best prepare you to turn what you learn at the Web Intensive into a thriving and profitable web-writing career. And, I've got some more good news ...

We've extended our early-bird discount to January 14th.

And that means you’ll save $1,000 off the price of the registration fee.

I’ve also told the ladies in Member Services that they can make any payment plans that are necessary.

All you have to do is sign up by January 14th.

To register, or if you have any questions about the event, you can call them toll-free at 866-879-2924 (or 561-278-5557 if you’re calling from outside the U.S.).

Or, if you’re on the fence and want some help deciding whether or not you should attend, email me at askrebecca@awaionline.com. I know it’s an important decision, and I’d be happy to walk through your goals and personal situation to see if it’s right for you.

And then, once you sign up, we’ll schedule a time to talk so we can get your plan mapped out between now and the event. That way, you’ll know exactly what steps to take so that not a minute of time is wasted.

Are you committed to making 2011 your most profitable year yet?

Are you ready to start putting the pieces in place to really make this your year? And avoid having April ... August ... and October roll around again and still being stuck in the same place — hopelessly treading water while you watch other people sail on by you ...

Now is the time to take action.

Now is the time to start laying a firm foundation for a new and better career — and a better life.

Are you willing to do whatever it takes to be successful?

If so, I and my Web Intensive team will do everything in our power to help you succeed.

I look forward to speaking with you about your 2011 (and beyond) web-writing goals.

And, I look forward to seeing you at this year's Web Intensive in San Diego.
