Let’s Schedule a Meeting
It’s the end of August – summer is basically over and the kids are getting ready to head back to school.
And something else – it's just a little over two months until our 13th annual Bootcamp, an event all of us here at AWAI (and so many of our members) look forward to every year.
You know, we’ve come a long way since Michael, Don, Paul and I first set up an overhead projector in a room with 20 folding chairs at the Delray Marriott back in 1999 …
These days, Bootcamp is the copywriting event of the year, where writers (experts and beginners alike), web pros, publishers, product managers, and marketers from around the world gather together to mix, mingle, teach, share knowledge, learn, and strike up deals over four exciting, information-packed, non-stop days.
And that’s no exaggeration. From the Wednesday night cocktail party through to the Saturday afternoon closing bell, and all hours in between, there’s so much going on that it’s all you can do to catch your breath sometimes!
I can’t tell you how many powerful secrets we’ve revealed over the years … how many first-ever assignments have been handed out through Job Fairs and contacts made … how many careers have been launched because an upstart copywriter met just the right person after a presentation or over an evening cocktail.
That’s the great thing about what Bootcamp has become …
It’s not just the learning anymore. It’s about the contacts made, the networking, the many, many jobs waiting out there – jobs that are literally yours for the taking.
And if there’s any doubt about the opportunities for copywriters in the wake of these tough economic times, let me set the record straight. Every marketer I talk to is still dying for good copy.
Remember, ours is a business that gets more aggressive when times are tough. And more aggressive means more letters. And I can’t say this enough: the Internet has transformed our business. It costs marketers nothing to test new letters these days. Just put them online and see how they work. In many cases, the only money they have to pay is to you, the copywriter!
So if you’re at Bootcamp this year, I promise you that you’ll have every opportunity to be face to face with dozens of marketers aching for great copy … eager to meet the next superstar copywriter.
But there’s another reason I’m especially excited about Bootcamp this year …
Rebecca and I have decided to do something really special this year for attendees who decide to join us this year …
Something we’ve done in the past here and there for a select few … that was a lot of fun for us and helped every person who took us up on it.
It’s a chance to meet with one of us – and map out your plan for the months that follow Bootcamp – to ensure you take full advantage of every contact you made at Bootcamp and put every single skill you learned to good use in your business. Or if this is your first Bootcamp and you prefer to meet before the event, we can discuss a plan to ensure you get the most of Bootcamp and answer any questions you have before joining us in October.
The idea behind these one-on-one phone calls is to sit down and come up with a solid plan you can follow.
You come armed with your goals and any questions you have.
Ask anything you want.
And we’ll provide a customized plan for you to follow.
But here’s the thing about these private chats …
Obviously, there are only two of us and so much time. We can only sit down with so many people. (Of course, we can “chat” anytime, and we can catch up together at the event too. But to sit down for a scheduled one-on-one phone meeting so we can give you our full, undivided attention– that’s something that needs to be planned and set up in advance.)
So we’re scheduling these “get-togethers” on a first-come, first-served basis. In fact, based on how many people have already signed up for Bootcamp, we’re only going to be able to offer these meetings to people who register by August 31st.
For instance, if you’re planning on coming to Bootcamp and you sign up today, your name will get on the list, no problem.
But if you wait a week or so, I’m not so sure. There’s a very good chance all our slots will be full.
That’s why, if you’d really like a chance sit down with us and chat about anything you like – copywriting, marketing, the industry, the different niches, the copy you’re working on – it’s best you sign up for this year’s Bootcamp sooner rather than later.
There are a few more good reasons too.
Even though we’re still a good two months away, over two-thirds of this year’s Bootcamp seats have already been snapped up.
Good reason to sign up #2: You’ll still get to take advantage of the $200 early-bird discount.
So don’t wait.
Why pass up $200 savings while it’s still available?
Why pass up an opportunity to sit down with Rebecca or me and let us go over your writing, or answer any questions you might have about copywriting and the business of copywriting?
There’s much more to tell you about the event – all the presentations, the attendees, the success stories, the Job Fair, the AWAI paid assignments that will be given away at Bootcamp, and the other jobs up for grabs …
But I’ll let AWAIer Guillermo Rubio do that in the letter he wrote about his Bootcamp experience.
Or, if you already know you want to go, head directly to the 2012 Bootcamp Registration Form. There you’ll find all the pertinent dates, details, and information so we can get you signed up and set up for our private meeting.
Can’t wait to see you this October!
Your next $5,000-a-month retainer …
The copywriting world is going through a massive shift.
And it’s created a major and urgent opportunity for writers (this could be bigger than web writing was back in the early 2000s!).
With this skill, you could walk in to practically any business. Tell them what you do. Then walk out with a check for $5,000 for the month (and every month after that).
That’s because practically every company on earth wants “in.”
But they need your writing skills to do it.
