The Secret to a Seven-figure

The first step?
Get a solid foundation.
Clayton says every serious copywriter needs to have the basics down pat. Make sure you understand the fundamental principles of copywriting and persuasion. For example, you should know how to write a headline that commands attention … a lead that keeps the reader engaged … an irresistible offer … be able to use credibility and proof effectively … the list goes on. Like a painter with his different brushes and techniques, mastering these fundamentals will give you the tools you need to craft the kind of persuasive copy that’ll make your clients very happy.
So go through the Accelerated Program for Six-Figure Copywriting, and learn it, inside and out (if you haven’t already).
Read books from the greats, like Claude Hopkins, David Ogilvy, John Caples, Robert Collier and Victor Schwab.
Study the heck out of sales letters, online ads, web copy, and more that are out in the marketplace right now. Analyze them. If they make you want to buy (or take another action, like submitting your email or contact info), try and see why that is. If they don’t, again – try and see why not. Things to look for are the offer they’re using, what kind of guarantee, why type of emotions are they trying to invoke, etc.
And most important of all – WRITE!
Writing copy is a skill, no different than playing the piano. It requires daily practice to improve and excel. So pick a product and write a “fake” ad for it, or do one of the many spec assignments AWAI offers. You could also work on selling the most important product of all – YOU. Work on your marketing materials, answer the question for your prospects – “Why should I hire you instead of all these other copywriters out there?”
Do whatever you have to in order to make sure you get your writing time in every day.
