Every Company You Work With Has Questions About Social Media

Over the last few days, I have written about several aspects of social media, and how it can tie into your work as a freelance writer or copywriter.

However you decide to tie social media into your business, one thing is for sure … you absolutely cannot ignore it.

Almost every company you work with, today and in the future, will have questions about social media. It’s an issue every business now has to address. And whatever you are writing — web copy or web content — it now has to be written with social media in mind.

Put simply, social media has become an integral part of every company’s online marketing plans.

Like I said on Monday, the time is past when writers could choose NOT to be knowledgeable about social media.

Step One for you, and every other freelancer, is to get up to speed, learn about social media marketing, and get to a level where you can have a smart conversation on the topic with your current and future clients. In other words, get some hard-core training, so you know what you are talking about.

Step Two is to decide how you want to apply this expertise. You can sell social media marketing and consulting as a stand-alone service. Or you can add Social Media Writing as a new tab on your online writing website. Or you can decide not to sell social media services at all, but use your expertise to promote and grow your own business.

And, of course, once you have expertise as a social media marketer, you can change your plans for the future at any time. Social media may not be a huge part of your business this year, but in a couple of years, it could become a major source of revenue.

However, to make any of this happen … to provide yourself with any of these opportunities … you need to ride the learning curve and become a Social Media Marketing Expert.

I said Monday that I think many freelancers just don't know where to start. And I said Tuesday that the important thing was to start.

As W. H. Murray said, "Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. Begin it now."

If you start … anywhere … with current clients, or even just for your own business, you'll engage that magic and release that power.

And, you'll discover the one secret I didn't mention this week. Social media is fun. There are so many creative and exciting options in the social media arena. As soon as you begin, you'll start to understand the power and reach social media has … and how much fun you can have along the way.

Social media is now a part of every business large and small, including yours. Seize the opportunity.

I know what it's done for me.

And I know what it can do for you.

Well, that's it for this week. I hope this series of emails has given you a better understanding of how social media has become central to every company’s online marketing plans.

Yes, there is a huge opportunity here. Grab it now, before you get left behind.

  1. I'm a newbie to copy-web writing. Most of these programs imply that one already has knowledge of copywriting, no?

Social Media seems like a no brainer. But do I need to take the Accelerated 6 Figure Copywriter program first?

Also, I'm sure I'd have to figure out how to make a great website. I suppose the Wealthy Web Writer deal would be the ticket there?

I'm researching this paid writer career as if it were an IT project. IT people get very specific and don't fool with "fluff".

    Just the facts, Maam.

    thanks, Kerry
