From $2,100 Per Month to $9,000+ …

Hi there, Rae Robinson here, taking the reins of The Writer’s Life.

I’ve been feeling pretty relaxed lately. I just took a weeklong vacation in England to celebrate my fiancé’s graduation from college.

It was the trip of a lifetime … and it was expensive. But thanks to my writer’s life, it was completely paid for.

This time last year, I couldn’t even think about doing something so extravagant. I only made $2,147 a month on average writing copy.

Granted, it’s not bad for a newbie. But as a main source of income, it wasn’t nearly enough.

So I did what I knew would be the fastest way to boost my income.

I went to AWAI’s FastTrack to Copywriting Success Bootcamp and Job Fair.

In just three-and-a-half days, my career took a 180-degree turn toward success. My confidence skyrocketed. I landed a “whale” of a client. I finally felt like a professional.

I realize now it was the people that made Bootcamp so life-changing. I met five different types of people … and each one influenced me in a different but powerful way.

Being at Bootcamp gave me the chance to interact with these people quickly, easily, and in a very positive atmosphere. But you can also find these people online, in your community, and in your network.

I’d like to introduce you to the first group of people who can invigorate your career:

Your fellow copywriters.

I’ve found that relationships with fellow copywriters are invaluable. Having a like-minded network of copywriters to talk to, encourage you, and even review your copy is a relief.

Meet as many of these people as you can. Talk to people from all experience levels. Encourage writers that are just starting out … empathize with writers at your level … and get inspired by writers at the level you want to be.

You’ll also get a great idea of what it’s like to write in different niches — very helpful if you haven’t chosen one yet.

Bootcamp is the easiest way to meet like-minded copywriters. But, you can also find a group in your city by using MeetUp.com, LinkedIn.com, and other social networks.

You can also meet other AWAI copywriters online right now.

If you’re already registered for Bootcamp and have a Facebook account, you can RSVP to the official event page here.

I’d also like to invite you to join the unofficial Facebook group, “Countdown to AWAI’s 2013 Bootcamp.”

Go ahead, introduce yourself on both pages and tell us your goals, whether you’ve registered for Bootcamp yet or not! You’re absolutely welcome.

Stay tuned to your inbox. Tomorrow, I’ll introduce you to the right person to ask for help … and how it could change the course of your career in an instant.

  1. Rae is right. It's not about the work. It's about the network. Knowing the right people makes all the difference.

A B-level copywriter who is well-respected, writes well and connects with good clients is vastly superior to an A-level writer who is difficult to get along with.

The only thing more important than your writing skills are your people skills. Surrounding yourself with folks who know, like and trust you makes all the difference.

What a great start, Rae. Well done!

  2. I am very excited to begin writing for money. For years I have written grants and promo for not for profits. That was for pay, but not for much pay, and no retirement benefits. Now that I have retired I look forward of putting my writing skills to work for my family's financial security.

I appreciate the advice Rae has to offer and look forward to learning more. I will have to wait to go to a Boot Camp until I have a little more income flowing my way, but I plan to be there before long.
