Congratulations to Five Lucky AWAI Members Who Each Received a $500 Credit for Sharing Their Summer Goals!

One of the best ways to ensure you achieve the big goals in your life — including those related to your writing career — is to make them public. By telling friends, family, and colleagues what your plans are, you’ll be held accountable and invite people to support and encourage you along the way.

Last week, dozens of AWAI members went a step further and told the world, in response to Rebecca Matter’s call for readers to post their one big goal to kick-start their freelance careers this summer.

Thanks to everyone who posted their goal — it’s inspiring to see you taking action!

Of those who participated, five were randomly chosen using Random.org to receive a $500 credit good towards any AWAI program or resource. Congratulations to our winners (and good luck on achieving your goals this summer!) …

Gary O. — “I'm stuck at the halfway point of The Accelerated Program and needed this challenge to push myself forward. So, within 90 days, I will finish the program, which means getting up at 5 in the morning to study before work. Need to work on marketing myself as well. Writing down your goals definitely makes a difference, sticking to the schedule will take some persistence. Thanks for the motivation.”

Dana M. — “My goals for the summer include finishing The Accelerated Program and starting the financial program. By the end of the summer, I want to have paying clients.”

Wes F. — “My immediate goal is to finish my first trip through The Accelerated Program by the end of June.”

Sheila K. — Here are some of my summer goals:

  1. Continue working on The Accelerated Program for Six-Figure Copywriting. I'm starting to dip my bare toes into the copywriting water.
  2. Finish the informational article about dental bonding for my first pro bono client.
  3. Attend a Chamber of Commerce networking event in my hometown.
  4. Continue reading Dig Your Well Before You Are Thirsty by Harvey Mackay.
  5. Continue writing for my current client, Textbroker International LLC.
  6. Relax by the pool.

Mary L. — “My goal for September 1 is to finish The Accelerated Program. Period. There are other projects I want to start on (e.g., new website, e-book), but I'm finding it's hard to write these goals without adding provisos such as ‘if I have time.’ So, I want to make this one specific action my goal, and do it for sure, without getting distracted by ‘shiny objects’ such as an e-book. And if there's time for more than just finishing the program, then I'll add next steps at that time. Thanks, Rebecca!”

You can check out Rebecca’s article and see the other goals posted here.

And we invite you to join us on the AWAI Facebook page, where we’ll be posting goal setting and goal achieving tips and strategies all summer long … and you can bet you’ll get plenty of support from your fellow members, too.

Here’s to your success!

  1. I just left my 9-5 J.O.B today and realized I am one step closer to achieving my goal as becoming a six-figure copywriter and leaving my old life behind for my new one.

I continue to make an effort each day since I have been apart of this program for the past couple weeks. Whether it's 15 minute break to step away from my office, my 1 hour lunch break, or 1-2 hours just before I go to bed at night..NO TV. I squeeze in as much time as I can, when I can.

I'm saying goodbye to alarm clocks and rush hour traffic by LABOR DAY WEEKEND.

    Let's get it!

  2. I finished the accelerated program and am waiting for the review. It has taken me awhile, but my goal was to finish it this month. I know that all of you will have great success in your writing. If you put Jesus first in your life He will help you do what you're meant to do. God bless each of you!
