The October AWAI Great Books Club Session: From Bootcamp to Your Home – Live
It’s a first for AWAI’s Great Books Club. The October meeting, featuring AWAI’s 2012 Copywriter of the Year Richard Armstrong and Club Moderator Marcella Allison, will be streaming live from the FastTrack to Copywriting Success Bootcamp and Job Fair in Delray Beach and available to you anywhere you have an Internet connection. The session kicks off at 12:45 p.m. Eastern on Thursday, Oct. 16.
Richard and Marcella will be highlighting the most important lessons from two important works, My Life in Advertising and Scientific Advertising, by legendary copywriter and adman Claude Hopkins. And if you couldn’t join us at Bootcamp this time around, you can enjoy the entire meeting – audio and video – as it happens from the comfort of your home office, living room couch, or wherever you happen to be. And there’s no charge to participate.
To access the live stream of the October Great Books Club discussion, simply go to the Great Books Club webpage on Thursday – we will start promptly at 12:45. You can access the page by clicking on the link below:
The video will play right from that page – there’s no special software to download.
Please add that date and time to your calendar now so you don’t miss it. And please be sure to sign up for the Great Books Club. It’s free! And you’ll get monthly updates, access to all previous webinars, and a reminder email before next week’s live session.
Hopkins was one of the originators of the principles of direct-response copywriting and marketing that we still use today. And even though he wrote these books nearly 100 years ago, there is still so much you can learn about consumer psychology, copy testing, and communicating effectively with prospects in the pages of those classic books.
As Richard says …
"As I read these books in preparation for our discussion (probably for the tenth time!), I was struck yet again by how Hopkins's principles are still being applied in the new electronic media we use today. The more things change, the more they remain the same.
"And the better you understand what Claude Hopkins was doing nearly a century ago, the better you'll do when you sit down to write your next email, website, or landing page.”
If you can’t make it to the live event, sign up for the Great Books Club so you can view the recording at your convenience.
Remember, it’s free to join the club. And not only will you learn so much from this discussion, you’ll also get instant access to past Great Books Club webinars, including talks on How to Win Friends & Influence People by Dale Carnegie and The War of Art by Steven Pressfield.
The Great Books Club is all about highlighting the important lessons you can learn from classic books in the fields of business, self-improvement, marketing, copywriting, and more and apply them to your freelance business. And the October session certainly fits the bill.
See you next week!
