AWAI Member’s Money-Making Website Growing by Leaps and Bounds
When we last checked in with AWAI-member Susanna Perkins nearly two years ago, she had just started her money-making website but had already boosted her income significantly.
Today, Susanna’s site, WordPress Building Blocks, is still growing … and she’s expecting an even brighter future.
“It's gotten better in two ways: more affiliate income and website work and, surprisingly, more writing gigs. Rebecca Matter was spot on recently when she said if she were starting again, she'd start with a money-making website,” says Susanna. “I expect 2015 to be triple (or more!) what I will earn in 2014. And 2014 was about 35% more than 2013. WordPress isn't going away, and more and more people are putting businesses online. They all need is to learn how to use WordPress, or have someone else put the site together for them. And I expect more writing opportunities to open up as well.”
Susanna’s money-making website deals with helping non-technical people create effective WordPress websites. The platform allows anybody to set up and maintain an online presence. Susanna makes sure the websites look their best for their customers, audience, or whomever else.
There have been other changes in Susanna’s life as well. She and her husband had been living in Panama for several years. But recently they moved to South Carolina to be closer to family.
“It wasn't something we really planned on, but my husband wanted to be closer geographically to his elderly parents. (His mom just turned 89.) Fortunately, because I'm earning more now, we could afford to do it,” explains Susanna.
Because all her work is online, it was no problem being abroad and working with stateside clients. Moving is no issue and neither is travel.
When Susanna and her husband were traveling across the U.S. last year, visiting a son in L.A., attending college graduations of two other children, and visiting theme parks (Disneyland and Disney World), her business was bringing in money.
That’s a big perk with money-making website — you can be successful and live anywhere in the world with an Internet connection, which is most places these days.
They still have the travel bug. And an overseas move might be in the cards again …
“We really enjoyed living in Panama, and we may end up back there. But first I'd like to explore some new places. Granada, Nicaragua is on our radar, as well as Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. I'd love to visit Asia as well — and there are some cities in Malaysia and Thailand that interest me. At some point we'll probably return to living abroad full time,” says Susanna.
