Using a Money-Making Website for Retirement

So far this week, we’ve uncovered some pretty great benefits AWAI members are receiving from their information websites (a.k.a., Money-Making Websites) …

Today I’m going to look at someone who takes one of the key benefits of the freelance writer lifestyle – more freedom and flexibility – one step further.

The standard definition of more freedom and flexibility within your work day is to be able to work when you want, from where you want, with whom you want and at your own pace.

AWAI member Della Flood, from Grand Falls Windsor, Newfoundland, also wants to be in control of what she works on.

Currently, Della works full-time for a software company doing graphic design and desktop publishing. She also works part-time as a freelance graphic designer.

However, her goal is to wake up every morning and work on what she wants to write or design. And that’s why she’s so excited about the Money-Making Website opportunity.

A couple of years ago, when she first read about the opportunity, she says, “Something just clicked right away.” She knew it could be just what she was looking for to boost the flexibility and creativity in her life.

Della had this to say about discovering Nick Usborne’s How to Write Your Own Money-Making Websites program …

“It was a life-changing experience for me. I knew people would think, ‘yeah sure,’ but it truly was. Because it took what was sort of a fuzzy idea in my head and led me step-by-step through the reality of actually doing it.”

So, how close is she to her goal of actually being able to write and design what she wants every day?

Based on the pace she’s going, Della estimates that within the next 12-18 months (or three and a half years, in total), she’ll be making enough income from her Money-Making Website to give up her full-time job and dedicate more of her time to her website and her graphic design.

The topic of Della’s site? Tea. Della has a passion for it. She looks forward to the time she can spend researching new ideas for her website, The Tea Talk.

Money-Making Website Benefit #5: It’s a way to generate a full-time income from something you love so much you’d do it for free.

Della is enjoying the process so much she has plans to write another site focused around a health and wellness-related topic. Now, she’s even getting requests to create similar sites for others. In fact, recently a non-profit group asked if she’d be willing to create a site for them.

Della says none of this would have been possible without Nick Usborne’s guidance.

“He’s such a good presenter and instructor, and he’s so generous with his knowledge. To me he’s the perfect person to be teaching a program like this. I would recommend it to absolutely anyone. It’s been such a good, helpful, informative experience,” she says.

What topic do you love so much that, when you read about it, you lose track of time? What would it mean to your life to be able to spend each and every day researching and writing about it? Add it to the list you started earlier in the week.

By now you should have a pretty good starting point when it comes to nailing down the ideal subject for your Money-Making Website. If you haven’t done so already, choose the topic that stands out the most to you and get started on some of the content. Please share your comments or ask any questions here.

That wraps up The Writer’s Life for this week. I hope you’ve found this week interesting and you’ve been inspired to start taking advantage of the benefits that await you through writing your very own Money-Making Website.

  1. Hi, unfortunately I missed some of the previous articles about money making websites, but I have a basic understanding of the process. However . . .Let's say I wanted to build a money making site on coffee. Does that mean I need to get a domain name with the word coffee in it? If yes, what if I can't find one, how do I get a domain name for a site about coffee if people can't get to it? Thanks in advance for any help you can give me, Jim

  2. When picking a topic what if its something YOU like, but no one else? Also I LOVE reading and that would probably be one of my go-to topics, but would I need to narrow it down?
