How to Schmooze with the Big Dogs – Even Though You’re a Pup!

I’ve been preparing you all week to get out of your own way – so you can launch your freelance career!

On Monday, I showed you the importance of having your personal cheering team – to help you handle the “down days” of freelancing.

Then on Tuesday – you declared your Independence Day! Scary, but exciting – and you can do it!

Wednesday, I gave you two successful strategies to jumpstart your freelance business. They worked for me – and I’m very confident they will work for you, too!

And yesterday – I gave you that ONE word that can help you DOUBLE your freelance income.

And today – our last day together – well it’s all about having FUN with your freelance life!

After all, you left the grind of a 9-to-5 job – so you can control your day … your time … and your life, right? So, it’s important to LOVE what you’re doing – and have some fun while you’re at it!

That’s why every year I block out time in my schedule in October to be around people who inspire me. People I can look up to. People I can learn from. And, people I can laugh with!

As a copywriter, it’s one of the highlights of my year …

(Oops – if you read yesterday’s issue – you’re probably saying “Shame on you, Carline – you’re an ‘alternative health direct-mail copywriter’ not a ‘copywriter’!” Nice catch!)

But in this case – I do mean copywriter. Because this is an event that’s for all copywriters. In every industry. Aspiring newbies. Established writers. And, LEGENDS in the copywriting industry – they’re all at this event.

It’s the American Writers & Artists Institute (AWAI) 2015 FastTrack to Copywriting Success Bootcamp & Job Fair. And, it’s going to be awesome!

How do I know that?

Well, for one thing – I’ll be speaking at the event – and hanging around all four days to learn from my copywriting heroes, too! I can’t wait – and, if you’re in the copywriting industry, I hope you decide to check it out!

There’s a special event in your industry happening – find out about it!

Now, I’m talking about AWAI’s annual event – because that’s the premier seminar in the copywriting industry. So, your assignment today is to find out what it is and make yourself part of it!

That’s where you’re going to schmooze – and meet people you would NEVER get a hold of on the phone – yet, they’re looking you right in the face!

That’s where you will hone in your skills – by tapping into the minds of the geniuses in your industry! I know it happens to me EVERYTIME I attend an AWAI seminar!

So, today’s tip: Make plans to not only attend Bootcamp this year – but to SOAK UP as much knowledge as possible … get as many phone numbers as your iPhone can handle … make connections with folks who can become a tremendous resource for you.

Attending Bootcamp is one of the BEST ways I know to keep yourself RELEVANT in this industry!

Ok, so, I need to hear from you. Were these past articles worth your time? Did you learn anything from them? Are you going to ACT on the stuff I’ve been telling you? Have you decided to get out of your own way and make your dreams come true? Let me know here.

And, I hope to see you at Bootcamp in October!

  1. Hi Carline!
It's me again! ;-) I wanted to attend Bootcamp this year, but couldn't manage the cost of the event, airfare, and hotel. :-( However, I am saving up for next year's Bootcamp. By that time I will have completed my Accelerated 6-Figure Copywriting course and hopefully will have landed a few small 'gigs' by that time. I truly hate to miss it this year. But I will certainly look forward to looking you up next year! I can't wait!

  2. Great goal, Rocky!
make enough money copywriting so paying for next year's bootcamp will be a drop in the bucket! See you next year!

  3. Thanks, Carline! See you next year! :-)

  4. Carline,

Yes, this week's articles have been very helpful! My wife and a long-distance friend are my cheerleaders. My independence day is 8/14/16 - my son's 4th birthday, and I'll specialize in Health & Fitness direct-response copywriting.

This year's bootcamp cost is prohibitive... but I will be in attendance next year as I start living the writer's life!

  5. Hi Carline

Thank you for sharing.I am very new to copywriting. Because of what I have learnt from people like you and other inspiring AWAI writers, I have managed to earn enough to pay for COS from my writing. My wife and I are going to this years boot camp and financing most of it from writing contracts. We are travelling from Australia and hope to meet you.
    Cheers...John Brewer.
