Strike the Hammer while the Iron is Hot

Speaking of a bang, this month I want to talk about a sales strategy I’ve dubbed “striking the hammer while the iron is hot.” Of course Bob Marley is the one who so artfully crafted that statement in his song “Mellow Mood” but for us marketers, it can translate to sales.
In direct marketing one of the first things we are taught is that if something is working, mail it again … right away!
And keep mailing it until is no longer works.
It can seem counter-intuitive to do so but if you have a piece of creative that you have tested – say an email solo – and you get a big response, that means that you have touched on something that is hot right NOW.
Maybe it is tapping into an underlying sociological event in our collective consciousness … maybe it is something that is much more timeless but nevertheless a common dream or hope of many.
Whatever it is, people are responding and that means that you must strike!
So don’t let thoughts of “bothering people” or of “people might get tired of my message” creep in and prevent you from collecting every last order that you can.
