Professional Background:

Out of all the copywriters available, why should you want to hire me to craft your messages to move your clients to action? That's a sound question. Allow me to begin to answer that below.

I am an education professional.
I have 30 years of experience as an education professional in a variety of capacities, both formal and informal.
• I worked for the University of Idaho for 10 years as an Extension Educator serving both youth and adult target groups.
• I then organized and conducted agricultural education programs for 3 years with a non-profit organization.
• For 17 years I worked with a public school in Idaho as a high school science teacher and then as a K-12 Principal for 8 of those years. I understand and care deeply about the education enterprise which means I care deeply about the success of your organization.
• I have several graduate degrees that have prepared me to effectively understand and serve the dynamic field of education. I received a Master’s degree in Plant Science from the University of Idaho, another Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Drexel University, and an Education Specialist degree with an emphasis on the Superintendency from Northwest Nazarene University.
• I left my school career to return to writing full-time. By focusing on the field of education, I leverage both passions.

I am a published, professional writer.
As a published writer, I’m fascinated by the power of a well-crafted story or message and thrive on creating the same for you and your organization.
• In my capacities as a professional educator, I wrote a variety of copy running the gamut from public relations and press releases to brochures, newsletter articles and white papers.
• In my previous work as a free-lance writer, I’ve written advertising copy for different organizations ranging from hotels and planned communities to my local Chamber of Commerce. I’ve also written articles for a regional monthly magazine focused on local arts, entertainment and travel.
• Though in a very different field, I’ve published a book entitled Free His People! which is currently available on Amazon as both a Kindle e-book and paperback.

As a professional writer, I regularly study my craft to grow and excel. In addition to learning more through reading and conference participation, I’m currently going deeper into my training through my association and ongoing professional development with the American Writers and Artists, Incorporated (AWAI).

My philosophy is that regardless of the genre I write, I cannot move the mind without first minding the heart. This is especially true in persuasive writing such as any kind of marketing copy. But even research-intensive white papers and case studies must be written with the big picture perspective of the reader as a whole person. Lose sight of that and you never fully engage your client.

Anyone can string words together to make a message. But we are bombarded by messages in this dynamic information age. What you, your organization and your clients need is writing that cuts through the barrage of information, connects with the heart and moves the mind.

Whether your copywriting needs are for marketing content, blog posts, newsletters, articles, emails, even white papers and case studies, contact me for a free, no-obligation estimate on your project. You’ll find that I am easy to work with and am devoted to meeting deadlines with the kind of high-quality copy that you want.
I’ve learned from being in the trenches as a very busy school principal what kinds of emails, snail-mailings and the like would grab my attention long enough for me to delay hitting the delete button or swiftly tossing a letter in the round file without allowing it to touch my desk.
I’ve also learned what kinds of promotional literature and articles would grab my attention at conference exhibit halls and trade shows. First and foremost, and nearly instantaneously, it had to connect to a need I felt. That’s why it is so important to mind the heart to move the mind. Alternatively, it could just be so creative that it stood out from the interference enough to pique my curiosity. It’s this in-the-trenches background that I use when I’m designing a message for you and your business or school.

As always, I pursue the win-win outcome with every word I write. I really look forward to working with you on your project to help your school or business successfully achieve its objectives and more.
