SAVE $100 THROUGH THIS FIRST-EVER, INTRODUCTORY OFFER
This is brand new … and it’s HOT!
We just announced it yesterday and AWAIers have been signing up in droves! And, with our very special introductory offer that saves you $100 … I wouldn’t be surprised if this isn’t the most attended webinar learning event we’ve ever put on!
I promise you, you haven’t seen anything like this from us – or anyone else for that matter.
What we’re going to accomplish together in just 4 days will amaze you … but, even more than that, you’ll finally have what every freelancer absolutely needs to be successful in this day and age.
Since this is Rebecca’s “baby,” I’m going to let her tell you more about it…
“I don’t care what niche of the freelance business you’re in,” says Rebecca. “Whether you’re a copywriter, internet researcher, resume writer, B2B specialist, publicist — and especially if you’re offering any kind of web writing — you NEED a website to compete in today’s marketing world.
“And, not just any website …
“You need one that reflects your talents and your level of professionalism.”
“And, that’s exactly what I’m going to help you achieve … and in only 4 days!
I’ll walk you through the whole process … from start to finish — step-by-step in a very special online website-building experience we’re calling Your ‘Freelance Website in Four Days’ Express Webinar Series.
There’s so much more to this series than I can go into here … for example Rebecca’s promised that once your website’s up and running … she’ll show you all the tricks for driving qualified clients to your site — and making sure people who should find you are able to, and that they’ll want to hire you once they read what you can do for them. Plus, amazing bonuses like:
- a forum just for this group, where you can ask questions and check in with your fellow members …
- a special “Content Essentials Guide” that lists all the different kinds of content you should have — specific to your freelancer website, whether you’re a health specialist, a financial copywriter, a Web expert, resume writer, B2B writer, a publicist, newsletter writer, or a graphic designer …
- an exclusive “Website Acceleration” handbook, which will help you take your website to a much higher level by featuring such bells and whistles as custom headers and themes that let you hook up with social media sites, add your own blog — even gather valuable names so you email special offers to your own “house list” of names.
And of course the most exciting bonus …
- a complimentary review and critique of your website’s design and content, complete with detailed written recommendations for improving and strengthening your site!
And, just this morning she told me about something else she wants to include … said she thought of it as she was nodding off last night, but then got so excited she couldn’t sleep! (As if this offer isn’t already over the top!! But that’s Rebecca…)
She’s still working out the details so I’m sorry that I can’t tell you about it quite yet. But, stay turned… I promise you’ll be hearing about it very soon … and you’ll be very glad you got in this 4-day express training program when you did.
Click here for everything you need to know in order to join Rebecca … and the ranks of professional freelancers with their very own “21 st Century Business Cards!”
Newsmax wants to hire more AWAI-trained copywriters too! On Monday, I told you that Gary Chappell, President and CEO of Nightingale-Conant, was coming to Job Fair to find more AWAI-trained writers. Well, yesterday I heard from Travis Davis, Associate Publisher of Newsmax, that he’s coming back too. And he’s looking for financial and health copywriters …
“It’s great to meet so many trained direct-response copywriters in one place,” said Travis. “AWAI makes it easy and painless to try out new copywriters. We ended up hiring two writers, and we’ve been very happy with the results.”
Nightingale-Conant and Newsmax aren’t the only “repeats” this year. Dr. Al Sears … Amazon Herb Company … Early to Rise … Stansberry & Associates … and The Sovereign Society are all A+ clients who have hired AWAI-trained writers at past Job Fairs and are coming again with that same goal.
If you want to get in front of 40+ marketers … marketers who are coming to Job Fair specifically to meet you … then make your plans now to attend AWAI’s FastTrack to Copywriting Success Bootcamp and Job Fair.
REMINDER: The early-bird savings of $200 ends Sept. 1. You can register easily here … or you can call Barb, Jacqueline, or Debbie at 866-879-2924 to reserve your spot.
“I have been pondering ‘The 21 Benefits of The Writers Life’ outlined by Ted Nicholas in Tuesday’s issue of The Writer’s Life,” writes Suzanne Mulligan.
“I found myself nodding in agreement as I read. Even though each point is certainly not relative to me, I believe in the potential and the opportunity.
“But something was missing for me. I couldn’t quite put my finger on it.
“Then I realized that there is ‘the writers life’ and there is ‘the writers life specifically for AWAI members.’
“Living ‘The Writers Life’ as an AWAI member means:
- You may study and work in your home office, but you are never alone.
- You are connected to hundreds and hundreds of peers who have been in your exact shoes.
- You can duplicate the efforts of every successful member who has ‘been there, done that.’
- You have the opportunity to learn from ‘the greatest minds in copywriting and the biggest names in direct marketing.’
- You are part of an exclusive network that will do everything in their power to see you succeed.
“I certainly look forward to meeting Mr. Nicholas at Bootcamp. I may have a few more benefits to add to the list by then!”
And Eric Garrett had this pointed question for me about Ted’s article:
“I just got done reading the 21 Benefits by Ted Nicholas.
“He’s absolutely dead on!!!
“But I have a question for you:
“Katie, did Ted really actually mention AWAI’s programs in his list of 21 benefits?
“It’s okay if he didn’t and you guys were just adding it in there for emphasis. I understand marketing.
“But if he really did mention AWAI …
“I remember the ad ‘How to form your own corporation for $50’.
“I’m beginning to feel like I may have stumbled upon something really HUGE!!!”
My response to Eric: “No editing on our part. That article was printed as it came from Ted.”
Ted Nicholas is just one of the legendary copywriters presenting at Bootcamp this year. (And since he’ll be with us for the entire 3-day event, I think Suzanne can be fairly certain she’ll have a chance to discuss The Writer’s Life … or any other copywriting or marketing topic she’d like … with him.) Ted will be joined by such superstars as Bill Bonner, Michael Masterson, Bob Bly, Nick Usborne, Don Hauptman, Herschell Gordon Lewis, Mark Everett Johnson, Jennifer Stevens, John Forde, Will Newman, Joshua Boswell, and AWAI co-founders Paul Hollingshead and Don Mahoney.
If you’d like to post your additions to Ted’s list, click here to access it. You’ll see the Leave a Reply link at the end.
The $600 billion challenge that could change the face of philanthropy … and explode opportunities for grant writers. What do Ted Turner, David Rockefeller, and Michael Bloomberg have in common (besides the fact that they’re all incredibly wealthy)?
They were three of 14 attendees at a clandestine dinner in New York City in May 2009. The event, fully described for the first time in the July 5, 2010 issue of Fortune magazine, was the kick-off to a charitable pledge the world has never seen.
Bill Gates and Warren Buffett, America’s two wealthiest individuals, hosted the “billionaire dinner” (the first of three that were held.) The idea was to persuade others to follow their lead and give at least half their net worth to charity.
A year later, 40 (of the 70 to 80 contacted so far) have joined Buffett and Gates in signing the pledge. (See givingpledge.org.) It’s not a legal contract, but the 40 names on the list have a combined net worth of over $230 billion.
The effect of this magnitude of giving remains to be seen, but one thing is sure: Society is sure to benefit. Charitable foundations will see a huge influx of money. And worthwhile organizations will be looking for their piece of it. That’s where you come in.
These organizations will need structured proposals from skilled grant writers who know how to follow the procedures necessary to get the money. For 30 years, Toni Rockis has been doing exactly that, securing more than $65 million for worthy causes (working only part-time, no less!).
Toni shares her secrets, and gives you everything you need to get into this highly rewarding career, in Grant Writing Success: Opening the Door to Financial Opportunity. You have an edge as someone who understands persuasive writing. This is a great way to help people … and live “The Writer’s Life” without having to write long sales letters. Click here to get started.
(Note: The $600 billion referenced above is based on the fact that the roughly 400 billionaires in the U.S. have a net worth of approximately $1.2 trillion. In addition, the U.S. already outdoes all other countries in generosity, giving $300 billion annually.)
Congratulations to Jane Pierce … proud new owner of a Money-Making Website. Jane’s site, www.NewEnglandDogTravel.com, is your go-to source for places to go and things to do with your canine best buddy in New England. She tells you about dog-friendly lodgings, from romantic mountain inns to beachside resorts, plus all the beaches fit to romp, and unusual doggie destinations that don’t just tolerate animals but cater to them.
“Nick Usborne’s How to Write Money-Making Websites was terrific,” wrote Jane, “well-written, thorough, and easy to understand and implement. Better still – the webinars. Nick’s a great teacher and coach and really makes himself available to help. And Rebecca and Denise are great facilitators. I listened to two rounds and learned something new every time. It was also very motivating to listen to and hear from other folks on the webinars and in the forum.”
And, Jane … here’s some feedback on your site from Nick:
I think it looks great! Nice header, good text, nice photos.
Now let me tell you what *I* would do next. ; )
- Open it up to your readers. Let them post about their favorite dog-friendly places. Invite them to upload their stories, recommendations, photos and videos.
- Arrange meetups for readers. Bring your dog to such and such a place, at such and such a time.
- When the community side starts gaining momentum … get in touch with the media and tell them about it! It's a fun topic and the media love dogs. ; )
I'd write more … but you seem to done things just about right so far. So I have no more comments on your site as it is. I'm just excited about what it could become! :)Nick
Great advice everyone with a Money-Making Website can benefit from!
Nick’s next training session starts Sept. 13. Have your money-making website up and running in just 7 weeks … with Nick’s guidance and the support of an army of folks like Jane.
Get all the details here.
And, an AWAI “Shout Out” to Jennifer Phillips April. Jennifer’s the winner of this month’s AWAI Writing Challenge … and a $100 richer to boot!
You can read Jennifer’s winning essay here … and you might want to check out her music recommendations as well. I’m going to.
“It’s exhilarating to finally be taking those first steps towards The Writer’s Life!,” Jennifer told me. “Last June, I made a list of all the things that I’ve accomplished since January, and it ran to 2 pages. (I put down everything from getting my freelance website up and running to getting my first client to becoming proficient at double turns in salsa dancing). When I feel things are going slow or I’m not ‘good enough,’ I just remember that list and I keep going.”
And, special recognition to Derrick Fuller … Olivia Gracie … Steve Laubly … Mandy Marksteiner … Monique Poche … Coleene Rumaner … Earl John Williamson for their participation in the contest. Look for a surprise in the mail from me.

In fact, just a few of these clients could keep you very busy for a long time to come! And Jay’s going to show you how to do it.

Barb Hume found a helpful website for you AND discovered one more thing that makes AWAI special …
“This weekend, my cable went out. I jumped on the phone, figuring to get the issue resolved in plenty of time to watch a lacrosse tournament that my son had anxiously waited for all week. I ended up sitting on hold for 40 minutes, listening to some awful music while waiting for a customer service rep to answer the phone and read from a script, only to put me back on hold. I kept giving myself pep talks to stay on the line so that I wouldn’t lose my ‘place.’ (While on hold, I could have gotten 2 loads of laundry done, walked the dogs, AND washed the car!)
“This experience inspired me to do some research to see if there was anything out there that can help us all avoid “hold Hell.” And, there is! It’s a neat, time-saving FREE service that will stay on hold for you – notifying you once a customer service rep is available! That way you can go about your day!
“Check out: http://www.lucyphone.com/
“On the bright side … this experience reinforced my confidence in AWAI’S Member Services team, and made me proud of the personal connections you’ve established with us. AWAI is always here for you … through phone, email, and now live chat. And … no waiting!”
Two more resources you might want to try … from AWAI member Lane Sennett. “I have a full-time job as a Business Systems Manager right now, and commute two hours a day. I’ve found the iPhone app called Dragon Dictation to be amazing! As I think about a subject I want to write about, I just start the app and talk into the phone. Is voice recognition system puts my words on the screen, and then I email it to myself. I can then take 15 minutes to review it, edit it in Word, and it is ready to post to the Web, cut and paste into a website, add to a requirements document or white paper I’m writing, etc. Its voice recognition is very accurate.
“Another idea: During the session Live Companion Series session yesterday, you talked about keeping notebooks for various topics, ideas, and thoughts. Have you used Microsoft One Note? Many people have this software program as part of MS Office, but have never tried it. It works perfectly as an alternative to paper notebooks, and interacts with the Internet to save Web pages. Particularly helpful when doing research! I keep looking for a phone app that will do the same thing, but have not found one yet.”
Have some advice you’d like to share with your fellow AWAI members? Send Barb a note at email@example.com and we’ll get the word out.

And, finally …
“An idea can turn to dust or magic, depending on the talent that rubs against it.”
William Bernbach went from a mailroom job during the Great Depression to staff writer for the 1939 New York World’s Fair to copywriter for an ad agency. He then parlayed his copywriting experience into developing one of the great agencies of all time, Doyle Dane Bernbach.
If you watch the AMC TV show “Mad Men,” about fictional ad agency Sterling Cooper in the early 1960s, you’ve heard many references to Bernbach as one of Sterling Cooper’s competitors.
And you might remember Bernbach’s “Mikey” ads for Life cereal or his “We try harder” ads for Avis. Another one of his classic ads, for Polaroid, featured a close-up of Louis Armstrong. The six lines of copy were so strong, Bernbach didn’t even use a headline.
Bernbach is also credited with being the first to combine copywriters and art directors into two-person teams instead of keeping them in separate departments – a model that still flourishes in advertising agencies today.
Come to Bootcamp in Delray Beach this November and meet our graphic design guru Lori Haller and the rest of our All-Star lineup. They’ll help you turn your ideas into magic.
REMINDER: The Early-Bird discount ends Sept. 1st. Make your plans to join us now. Join our ranks of “Success Stories” like these folks in this letter from Denise.
