Inside AWAI

Two things you need to know about tomorrow … Find out how to land 7 ideal web copywriting clients … lots of AWAI members to congratulate this week … latest Writing Challenge … A pro's tip for proofreading made easy

  • Important Reminder: Tomorrow's the deadline for you to become part of AWAI's most powerful copywriting learning experience – Circle of Success – at our lowest entry price.

There's no quicker (or surer) way to become a working, successful, highly paid copywriter … Period.

And wait until you see everything we've added to make this, our most comprehensive program, even better!

Two things you need to know:

    1. We're expecting heavy call volume as we get closer to the end-of-day deadline tomorrow. So I strongly encourage you to call Jacque, Pat, or Debbie today at 866-879-2924 or as early in the day tomorrow as possible to discuss your payment options.
    2. Don't worry about letting us know what you've purchased in 2010. We can easily get that total while you're on the phone. It will automatically be deducted from your COS fee … whether you're paying in full or on the monthly payment plan.

As soon as you become a member of Circle of Success, you'll get the details on how to easily access all the resources, benefits, and perks you're entitled to.

And if you have any questions about whether or not Circle of Success is for you, read this letter … then call me at 866-879-2924. I understand this will be an important investment in your future, so I'll be happy to personally help you work through the decision.

I'm looking forward to welcoming you to Circle of Success.

  • The power of stepping forward and claiming "I'm in." You may recognize Steve Roller as one of our Bootcamp Roving Reporters. When he saw that we were opening up COS membership again, he asked me to share his story with you.

" When I heard about the Circle of Success at my first Bootcamp, it wasn't the $55,000+ worth of resources that most appealed to me. It wasn't the free attendance at Bootcamps for life. It wasn't even the live training classes taught by A-level master copywriters.

"Those were some serious perks, but really just the icing on the cake.

"The chance to be associated with a small group of highly committed copywriters who were all focused on one thing – becoming a top copywriter as quickly as possible – was the real draw for me.

"See, as much as I like to think of myself as a 'rugged individualist' who doesn't need help from anyone, that doesn't work so well in the copywriting world.

"I suppose you could figure everything out on your own. Read every copywriting resource you could get your hands on. Use your own methods for finding clients. Make mistakes, learn from them, and change course.

"Problem is, that approach takes time. A lot of time.

"I was looking for the absolute quickest route to becoming a copywriter, and COS delivered.

"It was like being in an elite group of copywriters, hand-chosen for success, and given specialized training to insure it. A 'Top Gun' of copywriting, if you will.

"A camaraderie developed among my fellow COS members. We helped each other and motivated each other.

"But I got one other unexpected side benefit from joining COS: It immediately raised my expectation levels. Something about the sheer act of stepping forward and saying, 'Yes, I'm in' has incredible power to change your mindset and lock-in to the idea of success. It was no longer an option for me.

"Three years later, I can tell you that every bit of success I've had so far as a copywriter can be traced back directly to the moment when I enrolled in Circle of Success.

"So, did it pay off? In spades.

"As a direct result of my involvement in Circle of Success, I was able to line up $35,000 worth of projects before I even finished the four Advanced Training Sessions. And that was while I was still working my full-time job!

"Since then, I took a leap of faith and left my safe, secure job to become a freelance copywriter. I've surpassed my previous job's income in my first full year copywriting, and fully expect to have a breakthrough year in 2011.

"Going through the Accelerated Program was a great decision. And coming to Bootcamp cemented my decision to become a copywriter. But it was the moment that I signed up for Circle of Success that truly set the wheels in motion, and enabled me to finally start living my dream and enjoying The Writer's Life 18 months later.

"Yes, joining Circle of Success was the best career move I've ever made."

To experience the perks … the camaraderie … and the RAISED EXPECTATION LEVELS that have made such a difference to Steve and so many others, I strongly encourage you to join us in the Circle of Success.

  • "That's it! This B2B opportunity is just too hot. I'm going to launch my own B2B freelance business on 11/29. Do you want to join me?"

That was a quote from a very charged up Rebecca during an interview yesterday with B2B experts Pete Savage and Ed Gandia. (If you missed it, you can access the recording here until tomorrow.)

During the one-hour call, Pete and Ed debunked many of the myths behind becoming a successful B2B copywriter, and shared their insights on the business, including what clients are looking for, what you can do to fast-track your own success, and just how realistic it is to make six figures while working 20 hours a week.

By the end, Rebecca was so inspired herself that she threw out a challenge to the audience to forget about New Year's Resolutions, and get going now …

Ed and Pete, along with Master B2B Copywriter Steve Slaunwhite, have put together a program called The Business Side of B2B Copywriting: How to Get Clients, Grow Your Business, and Boost Your Income.

The program maps out everything you need to know about the "business side" of the B2B market, which along with writing B2B copy, is critical to your success as a B2B copywriter.

Rebecca plans to follow the program over the next week and launch her own B2B copywriting business on 11/29. And she's inviting you to join her.

All you have to do is order the program by 11/23. You'll also save 50% AND get a full four months to try and land clients. If at the end you decide it's not for you, you'll get a full refund.

    Sign up now.

And remember, if you're a Circle of Success member, you get this FREE – along with any other AWAI programs you'd like. Just let us know that you want to join Rebecca and we'll get you set up!

  • Wanted: custom-designed website headers. All freelancers need a professional website to promote their services. And a key element of that website is a professionally designed custom header.

If you're a designer and would like AWAI to recommend your services to freelancers currently working on their websites, please send an email with a link to your samples, as well as your fee range for a custom header, to

Rebecca will review your work and, if she likes what she sees, will then add you to the recommended supplier list for her "Build a Freelance Website in Four Days" program.

    • Part-time grant writer needed. If you have an interest in health services and education, this position offers flexible hours and opportunities to telecommute.
    • PeopleBrowser is looking for a Social Media and marketing pro in both San Francisco and New York.

  • Find out how to land 7 ideal web copywriting clients! Getting clients is the number one fear most web copywriters face as they launch their freelance business, but now you can push that fear aside!

Earlier today, during an exclusive Wealthy Web Writer webinar, Pam Foster revealed the one simple thing she did in June that has generated extraordinary results.

She started attracting more clients than ever before. She started receiving calls from excellent companies she'd never even heard of … and she landed 7 major clients in just a few weeks, with one of them totaling $30,000 worth of work just for starters.

Who would you love to work with? What does your ideal project look like? The answer may surprise you, but once you know … you can literally "cut and paste" Pam's formula into your own copywriting business plan and start attracting your ideal clients right away.

As with all Wealthy Web Writer events that take place each week, this $79 webinar is FREE for Platinum Members. To access the playback, click here.

  • LOTS of AWAI members to congratulate this week!

First up … Congratulations to everyone who took me up on my "Got It Done!" challenge last week. Here are just a few of the "Got It Done's" that have been posted:

"Joined COS" … "Completed 5 pages of my website" … "Met with my writing group" … "Sent sample proposal and information packet to a prospect" … "Attended 3 AWAI webinars" … "Defined my 2011 copywriting goal"

    Inspiring, aren't they?

And how about this one from Lorraine:

"I got my first client! In fact, I got two! I have been studying AWAI programs for a couple of years now, always waiting for the right time to start or 'launch' my copywriting career. This week, I just did it. I still don't feel 'ready,' but now I'm working on two assignments. I'm thrilled that I made the leap and just jumped right in. I finally feel like a writer. I got it done!"

You can read all the posts here. And after you do that …

  • Let's keep it going! There's power in acknowledging what you've accomplished in this way. So … my challenge again to you: Write down every action you take over the next 7 days that has or will have a positive and forward-moving impact on your writing career.

And if you'd like to share your "Got It Done's!" with us … you can post them here.

I promised fun prizes to the folks who posted last week. Same goes for everyone who posts this week.

  • Michael Masterson wants to help you "Get It Done" too … in fact, he's challenging you to take "The Pledge" and make 2011 the best year of your life.

If you're ever frustrated with the progress you're making towards your dreams …

… if you've ever felt mired in mediocrity and know you can do better if you could just break free from whatever is holding you back …

… or if you already know what you need to do to get ahead, but just can't seem to find the time or the energy to do it …

… then you need to get your hands on Michael Masterson's new book The Pledge: Your Master Plan for an Abundant Life.

The Pledge is a no-nonsense, no-fluff formula for breaking free from whatever has been holding you back, so you can get whatever you want out of life. Michael calls it "a blueprint for fundamental change."

And, more good news from AWAI members …

  • Carol Powers landed her first client – a client she met at Job Fair!

  • Toni Rockis told me about a $70,000, 5-year grant-writing deal she just signed when we sat down to catch up at Bootcamp. She’s being paid $20,000 to write the initial grant and then another $10,000 for each of the next 5 years to maintain it and do the annual reporting. And, get this … she estimates she’ll only spend about 3 weeks total on the whole project over the entire 5-year period. Wow! I’ve asked her to share how she did it with everyone who’s purchased her Grant Writing Success program. Stay tuned for a special teleconference with her after the holidays.

And Roy Furr sure is on a roll. He wrote, "It's been one whole week since Job Fair – and if you include the $10,000 from the $10K Challenge I won, I'm up to $26,000 worth of work going into contract that probably wouldn't have been on my schedule if I hadn't been there.

"I even had to turn one project down, from an ideal client. And I haven't even sent out a second follow-up email to most of the people I met! I'm literally going to be booking months in advance for a while now. Bootcamp is where it's at!"

  • REMINDER: You can reserve your spot now for the 2011 FastTrack to Success Copywriting Bootcamp and Job Fair at the Early-Bird discount rate, which includes easy monthly payments. Just click here.

And, Circle of Success Members – no need for you to register online. Just let your personal COS liaison, Jacque Palmer, know you’ll be taking advantage of your “Bootcamps Free for Life” perk and she’ll save you a place at next year’s Copywriting Event of the Year.

  • Shannon Udell won last month's Writing Challenge with her essay about her " Hip-Shaking, Tummy-Tightening, Super-Secret Workday Guilty Pleasure." Shannon, your $100 AMEX gift card is in the mail.

You can read Shannon's essay here.

And congratulations to these folks who shared their guilty pleasures too:

Here's something we can all be thankful for …

  • Jen Stevens's Proofing Made Easy Tip

It's almost impossible to proofread your own writing.

The reason it's so hard: You know how it's supposed to read – so as you read it, your brain fills in missing words. It makes sense of nonsensical phrases. And it makes producing good, clean copy almost impossible.

The ideal solution is to hire a reliable person to proof your writing for you. But that means paying for it. And we learned about an almost foolproof way to proof your own writing from Jen Stevens at this year's Bootcamp.

It's incredibly simple. You read your copy in reverse – sentence by sentence, from the last sentence to the first. That slows you down – and forces your brain to pay attention to what's on the page and not what you think is on the page.

This is your final editing/proofing step.

First, you need to read your copy from beginning to end to make sure it makes sense. That's when you add and/or delete chunks of copy … move copy around … polish your wording.

Then you take that "finished" copy – writing you feel is as strong and persuasive as possible – and put Jen's system to work.

    Try it!

Have a great week. And look for a special issue of Inside AWAI next Thursday … Thanksgiving Day … with a free "We're thankful for you and the trust you've put in us" gift included.
