Now Accepting New Writers

Ideal for those who want more income, shorter workdays, and greater flexibility

Notice from the Editor:
“I’m ready to start you with a byline and your first $100!”

Hi Writer,

In just a second, I’ll show you how to get accepted as a new writer with us… and quickly make your first $100.

But first, let me tell you a story (that could soon be your story, too)…

It’s about an extraordinary thing that happened to an ordinary woman who enjoyed writing.

Meet Mindy.

Mindy, pictured with her laptop and dog

To anyone on the outside, she lives the typical middle-class life…

She drives a minivan, yells at her kids to hurry up, knows the baristas at Starbucks, and waves at her neighbors as they mow their lawns.

But her reality is a 20-hour workweek… a six-figure income

And the freedom to do what she wants, where she wants, when she wants.

“How’s that possible?” you ask.

Easy — she’s a writer.

But not just any kind of writer…

People hear the word “writer” and assume that means a life of rice and beans, piles of manuscripts under your bed, and a closet full of black sweaters.

Or they ask what you’ve published, thinking that all writers write books.

But the kind of writing she does… is outside the box. None of those stereotypes apply.

In a way, it’s the opposite of what people think of when they imagine what writers do…

To be honest, it’s the opposite of most of the jobs out there these days (and it pays way more)!

The simple truth is this: The writing she does (which you can do, too) can give you the kind of lifestyle most people dream about.

That means…

  • There’s no limit to how much you can earn — You can pad your vacation fund with an extra $10K each year, or aim straightaway for a six-figure income…
  • You’re completely in charge of your timeYou decide when to take a long lunch, or a long vacation…
  • You pick the kind of writing you do — Gone are the days where the boss makes you work on something you hate…

My definition of success is ever-evolving. And right now, success for me as a copywriter means I get to travel the world and work whenever — and wherever — I want to, while also making the income that supports the nomadic lifestyle that I’m currently living. Plus, as someone who grew up living in a third-world country (Philippines), it also means having financial peace of mind. I can help my relatives. I can donate more, contribute more, or give gifts. I can support myself and those I love.

— Lynelle Suan, Toronto, Canada

I chose to be a writer because I wanted the freedom to be there for my family and not have to worry about being at a desk all day. I was in sales before and although I learned a lot about marketing, I craved freedom to do what I wanted, travel, and spend time with family.

— Michelle Durham, Torrington, CT

When my work hours got cut back, finances got tight. A second job wasn't a good option, so the search for additional income began. I've always liked to write, and [then I learned] I could write and get paid for it. Game on!

Unlimited Income Potential Plus Satisfying Writing Work

Hi, I’m Rebecca Matter.

Rebecca Matter
President, AWAI

As president of American Writers and Artists Institute, I’ve watched thousands of folks like Mindy transform their lives for the better through this kind of writing.

These people come from all walks of life.

They’re from all over the world.

Some are young, some are old.

Some have college degrees, some barely made it through high school.

But they all have one thing in common:

They enjoy writing, and they knew life held something better for them than the status quo.

So they all pursued the same type of writing career as Mindy.

Collectively, they call themselves Barefoot Writers. It’s a little tongue-in-cheek, sure. But when you make your living as a writer, there’s no dress code. No need to report to an office.

In short, YOU’RE FREE of virtually all the obligations most of the working world has to juggle.

You can wear slippers and write cross-legged on the couch. Or write out in the sunshine by the pool, or near the beach.

To be frank, it’s a writing career that sets you up to live life on your own terms.

Think about that for a minute…

What could be better?

Mindy told me she’s asked herself that same question but hasn’t ever been able to come up with an answer.

“Writing gives me exactly what I want in life,” she said. “I want to call my own shots. I want to be in charge of what I do each day. What I don’t want is to throw away the best years of my life sitting in traffic or dozing off in meetings.”

I’ve watched Mindy’s writing career grow over the years. And thanks to life as a Barefoot Writer, she’s been able to flip her lifestyle to something most other people only wish for.

Imagine how you’d feel if this writing career gave you the same lifestyle…

  • You could go on vacation in the off-season when it’s cheaper and not as crowded.
  • It would be easy to be there for your kids, whether that means cheering through a softball game or taking that epic road trip before they head off to college.
  • Long lunches would be your norm — there’s no rushing back to clock in when you’re part of this writing world!
  • Bank account worries would become a thing of the past. You’d never again have to stare down a big pile of debt or wonder how to pay this month’s bills.

When you’re a Barefoot Writer, there’s no more penny-pinching. No more scrimping and saving just to get by.

Instead, when you need a little extra cash to replace that failing fridge or upgrade to the newest-model phone…

You just sit down and write something.

Obviously, there’s a little more to it… You need someone to send your writing to, who’s willing to pay good money for it.

But that’s exactly why this particular kind of writing is different from any other career.

Connect with just a handful of these people — let’s say four, tops — and you’ll have more great-paying writing projects than you could ever dream of completing.

And here’s the thing…

The need for this kind of writing is endless, and the demand keeps growing. I’ll explain why in just a second. First, though, do me a favor and just picture yourself in that situation… where you have those four people who each have a never-ending stream of well-paying writing assignments ready for you to accept at any time.

It’s a very different situation from what most people have, right?

Most people have a set job function, with a set income year after year. And it caps what they’re able to do and plan for.

They’re limited.

But what if you lived without those kinds of limits? What if “giving yourself a raise” was as simple as working an extra hour or two each week?

You’re in complete control of how much money you want to make… based on how many projects you want to take on.

Imagine never having to think, Can I afford it?

  • Going to a restaurant? Immediately pick what you really want instead of first scanning the price column.
  • Headed to a concert or sporting event? Forget the nosebleed seats and sit right up where all the action is.
  • Need a little help with yardwork? Hire a service to do your pruning and mowing. Then relax by a window with a view of your roses and gardenias.

It’s an energizing thought, right? Instead of feeling limited by your life circumstances, you’d have the freedom to buy things or go places based solely on the fact that you want to.

With this kind of writing, all this and more is possible. You’ll never again have to settle.

Break Free from Common “Life Lies” and
Shape Your Writing Dream Any Way You Want!

You’re probably wondering, How can I get in on that lifestyle of freedom and opportunity?

Well, I’ll tell you…

But first, know that you don’t need a fancy degree or years at an internship.

You don’t need to uproot your life and family and move across the country.

In fact, it’s bizarrely easy to become part of our Barefoot Writing world…

Really, you just decide it’s the life for you.

And then, you go for it.

That includes breaking free of the falsehoods many people live their lives by…

Like the idea that you have to “work hard” to make a great living. As a Barefoot Writer, you can make a great living, enjoy what you do, and have plenty of time to play and relax.

There’s also the belief that you have to “pay your dues” like so many of our parents and grandparents did. But the truth is… nope. Once you’re part of the Barefoot Writing world, you get green-lighted over to the life of a well-paid writer.

My point is, as a Barefoot Writer, you don’t have to accept the status quo. You’ll never again waste hundreds of hours in commuter traffic. Your time won’t get squandered on mundane projects. Your vacation days aren’t capped at a measly two weeks.

Once you decide this is the life for you, you can join our group and live your life as a Barefoot Writer.

What does that mean? It means you shun cubicles and embrace white sand beaches. It means you’re there for your family when they need you, and you don’t worry about bill collectors knocking at the door.

And our group? It’s called the Barefoot Writer Club.

As a group, Barefoot Writers support each other’s writing aspirations, help each other climb higher and earn more, and join in to celebrate all the wins along the way.

Most importantly, the Barefoot Writer Club supports you as you build the life of your dreams through a well-paid writing career.

Here’s what that kind of life might look like for you:

  • Got a kid ready to start driving? Instead of a cheap beater, you could delight them with the newest model that includes enhanced safety features.
  • Beach trip coming up? Skip the modest, ground-level hotel room a mile from the shore and instead get a beachfront, top-floor suite with a panoramic ocean view.
  • Want to lose weight? Spring for a personal trainer who keeps you focused on your goal and gets you there faster.
  • Sick of vacuuming and wiping down toilets? Hire a weekly cleaning service. (I know a lot of writers who do this. And chances are once you’re making enough, you’ll do it too. It’s a no-brainer — if you can make more in an hour than it costs for a weekly cleaning service, the choice is easy!)
  • Need more time with your spouse? Simple. Clear up your schedule and go out on more dates.
  • Have an aging parent? It’s a lot easier to juggle care and doctors’ visits when you’re the one in charge of your days.

Give yourself permission to picture the changes you crave most in life. The freedom that comes with being a writer can set you up to go after those things you really want.

That’s because this is one of the few kinds of writing where it’s not uncommon to earn six figures annually, often while working part-time hours (and I even know a handful of writers who have gone on to earn millions).

So if you want a big income or relaxed lifestyle (or both), this kind of writing can give it to you.

But maybe that’s not what you want at all…

Other folks are attracted to this kind of writing because of how much time it can free up.

They’d like a comfortable standard of living, but still want to be able to play a weekly round of golf or spend lazy days with a good book.

Still others just need a second income stream. Some of our writers love their day jobs; they’d just like to earn a little more to keep things comfortable (like teachers, for example). So they write in the evening or on the weekend and enjoy a sizable money cushion.

Robert Rice is one of them. His first love is acting, but acting doesn’t always pay the bills, especially when you’re first starting out. He found it hard to wait tables and juggle other side jobs, because he needed to be free to go to auditions when his agent called. The answer? Life as a Barefoot Writer. Now he earns a comfortable living through writing, but has all the time in the world to pursue his acting dream.

Rachael Kraft needed a different kind of flexibility. With a husband in the military, she found it challenging to start and stop jobs every time they relocated. Now she’s a writer, and when she and her husband move, her writing career moves with them.

That’s another thing you should know about this writing world: It’s location independent.

As long as you have a computer and a decent internet connection, you can do your work wherever, whenever you want.

Maybe that means you can finally become an expat, like Jen Adams did when she relocated from Nebraska to Ecuador to fulfill her goal of living abroad for a year.

Or that you’ll have plenty of free time to pursue hobbies such as photography, like Michael Thompson.

Perhaps it frees you up to travel the world from place to place, like Kokab Rahman.

Or that you finally up and follow a lifelong dream, like John Forde did when he moved to Paris — permanently.

The Best-Kept Moneymaking Writing Secret in All the World

By now you’re probably wondering just where all these writing opportunities are hiding and how they can add up to such great incomes. I totally get it. If I were on the outside looking in, I’d wonder the same thing.

There’s that saying, “You don’t know what you don’t know.” And it applies here, because common knowledge about writers is pretty limited.

Like I said earlier, when most people think about a writing career, they only think about writing books or articles for magazines and newspapers.

But our big world of paid writing is much larger than that…

First, you should know there’s always been a writing and communication world separate from the worlds of books and journalism. It’s called direct response, and companies have used this method for over a hundred years to connect with prospective customers.

But it’s not the same as traditional advertising, where the focus is on brand awareness and image.

Direct response is all about prompting action, whether that means getting a reader to read more, sign up for something, donate, or buy.

(By the way, the key here is persuasive writing, which I’ll tell you more about.)

You’ve probably been looking at pieces of direct-response marketing since you were a kid. Ever run to get the mail when you were little?

Paper communications used to be the primary way writers communicated direct-response messages.

You may have also heard similar messages read aloud on TV or in radio spots.

Anything that asked you to “call this number” or “check a box and send back this postcard” or “mail your donation here”… was written by a writer in the direct-response world.

And that world has always been lucrative for writers, affording some a multi-six-figure income for the equivalent of part-time work.

But now the doors have blown off, and that same lucrative world of direct-response writing has lately gotten exponentially larger…

It started with a seismic shift in the world of communications that took root about 20 years ago. That’s when the internet changed everything about the paid writing world.

Millions of businesses moved their communications online, opening up never-ending writing opportunities for our Barefoot Writers.

We got to a point where we could hardly keep up with the demand, but then — boom! The pandemic hit, and everything changed again.

Only… for writers, it made everything better.

It probably would have happened over time anyway, but with pandemic restrictions shutting down in-person life around the world, millions of businesses were forced to move their businesses and marketing dollars online.

  • Millions of brick-and-mortar stores suddenly had to write about their goods instead of letting people explore them in-shop.
  • Millions of sales teams were relegated to email communications and website descriptions.
  • Millions of restaurants found themselves trying to describe specialty flavors in online menus instead of in front of a guest at a table.

And you know what that meant for writers?

It meant that demand for good persuasive writing had suddenly skyrocketed on every level of commerce and in every industry.

And it underscored a problem — really, one of the biggest ongoing problems businesses face these days: how to clearly and effectively communicate with prospects and customers.

So believe me when I say there’s more than enough writing work to go around. Every business with a service or product to sell needs this kind of writing, and it’s an unending need.

A Carte Blanche Writing Career with as Much Income and Free Time as YOU Choose

Try this: Take a moment to think about how much good writing a single company needs to communicate in today’s world…

We’re talking websites, emails, blogs, landing pages, autoresponders, newsletters, sales pages, social media posts, editorial, catalog content, and the list goes on…

Yet here’s the funny thing: Despite the huge demand for this kind of writing, surprisingly few people really know how to write like this.

Just about every day, I get emails from other businesses asking for writers I can recommend. I always oblige because I know a lot of terrific writers, but the requests keep coming…

And the writers I know just can’t keep up!

That’s one of the reasons why if you get accepted with us, your options are extensive. You’ll have your pick of project types. You’ll have your pick of project topics, too, which is a big deal. (Imagine never again having to work on something that didn’t interest you! That’s a reality for our writers.)

Here’s what I mean by your pick of projects:

As a member of our Barefoot Writer Club, you’ll get connected to the massive world of persuasive writing opportunities.

From there, you’ll learn how to take advantage of the ones that interest you and fit best within your chosen lifestyle — all thanks to very simple how-to guides that spell things out step-by-step.

And not only will you discover the newest, hottest writing opportunities with insight into which ones are best for which goals and lifestyles, but you’ll also be presented with logical starting points and timelines.

For example, let’s say you want to shift from your current day job into full-time writing, but without giving up any income.

Maybe you make $87,000 a year right now…

The Barefoot Writer Club would show you which writing opportunities can replace an annual income of $87K.

You’ll also find out how to get started in whatever writing opportunity you choose by doing a little at a time as you back out of your day job.

That way, you can grow your writing income to the point where you have a seamless transition from the day you hand in your two weeks’ notice to the day you officially call yourself a professional writer.

Sample Fees for Just Some of the Projects Barefoot Writers Can Write

Blog Post (600–1,000 words) $250–$800
Case Study (6–10 pages) $1,200–$2,000
White Paper/Special Report (5–10 pages) $2,000–$10,000
E-book $2,000–$7,000
Stand-alone Email $250–$2,000

On the other hand, maybe you want to write only a little bit in your spare time. Your goal is just to have extra cash for vacation, or perhaps pad your retirement fund a little.

In that case, we’d show you the writing projects you can easily start and stop when time permits while still bringing in great money.

And if you want to make as much money as possible as fast as possible, the Barefoot Writer Club will steer you toward the writing projects that are set up well to make this happen. You just have to know where to look and whom to connect with.

Coffee, Llamas, the Color Pink, and Other Writing Projects

I’ve told you that you get to pick from whatever project type and topic you want, and that you can really go after whatever income level you desire.

But did you know you also get to pick the industry?

For many of our writers, this is like icing on the cake. Not only do you get to write for a living, which you’ve likely always dreamed of doing, while making good money and doing it on a schedule of your choosing…

But you also get to write about your favorite things!

When I say every industry under the sun needs good persuasive writers, that’s exactly what I mean.

Anywhere you see money exchanging hands — any type of commerce, really — is typically connected to a greater industry of professionals who make their living in that area.

For you, the writer, this means you can target those industries for your projects. And by that, I mean you can pick the industry you’re most interested in and go after clients in that sphere, which translates to you getting to write about the things that most interest you.

For example…

Elias Christeas leveraged his passion for automobiles into a writing career and began breaking sales records for his auto clients in a matter of months. Just recently, he took his earnings from writing and bought a new home for his family, right on the water in Florida.

Lynelle Suan, on the other hand, tried business school and quickly discovered college wasn’t for her. She wanted to get out into the world doing something fun and learning from people who were living the lifestyle she desired. She’s since created a hybrid writing career that includes handpicked freelance clients and a full-time position with a Canadian company, giving her the means to plan the worldwide travels she’s always dreamed of.

Venu Sripada learned English as a third language and used his powerful communication skills to build up a writing career in the technical realm, working with businesses who have at least $1 million in revenue. Getting to pursue his passion for writing means he also has plenty of downtime to read more books and explore other cultures.

Maybe you’re a big fan of astronomy. Imagine getting to research and write about telescopes and planetariums.

Or perhaps you’re passionate about the environment. You could write for conservation groups, for national parks, for recycling programs, and for reforestation efforts.

Or it could be that you just really like coffee. We have a member who wrote an entire website about coffee, and who makes an average of $6,000 a month from that one effort.

Screenshot of a money making website about coffee

Now, you don’t have to write about your hobbies… but the point is that you can if you want to. You can pick virtually any interest or topic and build that into a writing career.

A collage of three different money making websites

That also means you can say no to anything you don’t want to write about. Gone are the days when you’re forced to work on something because someone else tells you to do it!

The Barefoot Writer Club is about aligning your goals and satisfaction together in a way that creates the income you desire within whatever lifestyle you crave.

That’s a tall claim, I know. But it helps that we’ve done this time and time again with our members.

This is also one of the reasons our club has such a high success rate…

Too many programs try to put you in a box they’ve preconstructed in the hopes of profiting big off new writers like you.

But not everyone fits the box. That goes against one of the tenets of our freedom-filled way of life here in the Barefoot Writer Club!

No, this club is about meeting you where you are, as a person with unique goals.

And whereas books tell you what they need to tell you and then leave you to it…

This club is different. It doesn’t matter whether your writing career takes off like a rocket or you prefer to start slow and just dip a toe in the water… You’ll be taken care of every step of the way.

Truly, there is no comparison for what you get from the Barefoot Writer Club.

This is a group that truly wants fellow members like you to succeed.

This group of writers that’s grown over the years has become very much like family. Although it’s a massive, sprawling community that spans the globe, you can still connect daily with fellow members in the dedicated Barefoot Writer forums to celebrate each other’s wins, coach each other through challenges, and encourage each other to go after their biggest dreams each and every day.

So if you

  • enjoy writing,
  • want more income,
  • crave more freedom to do the things you want to do,
  • and would like control over what you actually write,

then you’d be a terrific fit for this group, and I encourage you to apply.

Just know that this club is guaranteed to take you one step further than simply launching a writing career and bringing in money.

Your High School English Teacher Would Be Shocked

There’s another piece to the puzzle that I want to mention…

Although it’s enormously important to be informed about the different types and scope of all the writing opportunities out there, you also need to know how to write these projects.

And this is another major source of frustration for writers who don’t get their start through us. You see, plenty of people in this world can write. Heck, anyone who made it to high school can string together a decent sentence or two!

But that’s not the kind of writing that brings in the checks.

You see, the writing we teach our writers is not what’s traditionally taught in school. Instead, it follows a secret structure that’s rooted in persuasion.

And persuasion is the key to excelling at this kind of paid writing…

If you just needed information about what’s out there and how to do the writing, we could send you a book and be done. There’d be no need for a club, because we’d just mail you everything you ever needed to know.

But this club is much more than that…

When you make the decision to overhaul your lifestyle and go after a dream career as big as writing…

It’s a huge jump!

It’s exciting, nerve-racking, fun, maybe a little scary…

All the feelings, really. You know what I mean?

And when you’re going through something like that, especially when it bucks the systematic career world most people are part of…

Well, it’s easy to get tripped up.

Shannon Goheen holding a check
Shannon Goheen of Massachusetts proudly holds the first check she earned as a writer.

You could be off to the races with your writing projects, already seeing three… four… maybe even five-figure checks coming in!

But then let’s say you hit a speed bump.

Something happens with one of your projects… Maybe the client asks to expand the scope of the project (for a bigger fee!) and you’re not sure how to handle it.

You feel like you’re teetering on the edge of a make-or-break situation.

What do you do?

Too many would-be-great writers give up at this point. Or, they try to go it alone and make mistake after mistake, painting themselves into a corner they can’t get out of.

That’s where the Barefoot Writer Club comes in strong. We are firmly against any writer potentially failing just because they didn’t have the “how” nailed down when they got started.

You know, I should let you in on a little secret here…

No writer knows how to do it all!

A writing career is not an open-and-shut case. You don’t read a few books and learn everything you ever need to know, ready-set-go.

No. This kind of career — a lifestyle career — is something you grow at. You learn a little, write a little, grow a little every day.

The Barefoot Writer has an ongoing happy-hour buffet for us. It has nuggets of wisdom from the legends… The best thing about Barefoot Writer is its offering of hope without the hype. That’s why the success of our peers bring joy, not jealousy. We know it’s doable, that our turn is not far behind. I’m thankful for this warm incubation of Barefoot Writer.

— Balaka B. Ghosal, Houston, Texas

The most important benefit I got from Barefoot Writer was one I could never possibly have anticipated. In January 2018, I was interviewed for the magazine and featured on the cover! That led to being interviewed for two podcasts as well as winning several writing assignments. Of course I’ve also enjoyed many smaller benefits both before and since. It’s a very active community so I often get to share my expertise as well as learn from the expertise of others.

— Jeff Kontur, Buffalo, New York

The Barefoot Writer Club is a constant reminder that I am not alone in my dream. When I need encouragement, guidance, or comradery I reach out to the online community and the doubt and isolation, that often plagues me as a freelance writer in training, is held at bay. I also enjoy reading the monthly magazine for its honest portrayal of a writer’s journey. I love reading the interviews with writers and learning about their origin stories. They are always so different, and I find that incredibly reassuring as I continue on my own path towards writing success.

— Gretchen Heinrich, Clinton Township, Michigan

Barefoot Writer has given me added confidence and encouragement while I am setting up my writing business. It can be lonely and confusing sometimes while learning and writing good copy on my own. It is nice to know that there are thousands of others just like me asking questions online… I also like their online magazine where they have top copywriters advising on how to become a greater copywriter!

— Wee Kong, Singapore

For quite some time I had the notion of leaving my 9–5 job and seeking some way to make a living doing something I loved. Writing is something I love to do, but I never knew how I could really turn that into a lucrative income…

Until I found Mindy online and she told me all about the Barefoot Writer Club. It has opened my eyes to so many possibilities it is hard to contain my excitement for my new future.

Currently, I am still working my 9–5 while going through the course but I hope by next Spring to be able to leave it to start living my writer’s life. Thanks, Barefoot Writers.

— Darlene Cullor, Anchorage, Alaska

That’s one of the reasons we asked Mindy McHorse, whom I mentioned earlier, to step into a leadership role at the Barefoot Writer Club.

You might recall that she desperately wanted a change from the job she had, wasn’t willing to sacrifice time, and was eager to make big bucks.

She also loved writing.

But Mindy, like so many other club members, was only familiar with book and article writing. She also believed the too-common stereotype that writers were poor as church mice, and she didn’t want that to be her future.

Then she met us. She now recalls it as one of the “lightning rod moments” of her life.

The Barefoot Writer Club showed her a way she could do what she loved (write for a living), have the kind of open schedule she wanted (since Barefoot Writers set their own hours), and make whatever kind of money fit in her life picture.

Mindy set her sights on six figures. Part of that had to do with big life goals, and part was about validation.

As she told me once…

“I wanted to prove to everyone — and mostly to myself — that this writing career was legit and lucrative. How better to do that than by going big right off the bat?”

She didn’t make six figures right away, though. Her first year as a writer, she banked $17,000.

In the second year, she worked harder… and brought in $24,000.

Not bad, considering she started from scratch, and all that money was earned solely through writing.

But it was that third year that everything changed. That was the year she hit her goal, earning $100,538, in just 12 months!

Mindy McHorse pointing to a check that she is holding

How did she ramp up her writing income by over 400 percent?

That was when she fully embraced the principles and resources offered here through the Barefoot Writer Club.

In those first years, she knew about the major writing opportunities and knew about persuasive writing…

And she did “okay” figuring them out on her own.

But it was all the other things that go along with a writing career that kept her stuck in the mud. She wasted days — whole weeks — on small issues that could have been easily cleared up through a conversation with a more experienced writer.

She’d sometimes lose her motivation… or get tripped up in the middle of a project… or run into questions surrounding a contract.

All of these things are normal, everyday issues when you transition to a new career. And with the right guidance, they can be non-issues.

Without any guidance, though, they can leave you stuck with no path forward.

When Mindy started working with the Barefoot Writer Club and watched her income skyrocket, she decided she was “in it for life.” Not only in terms of committing to a lasting writing career she loved, but also in terms of giving back to the writing community that helped her get her start.

She’s since spent the last decade working with club members to help them navigate the hurdles that trip them up.

Subject: Could be big for members

Hey Rebecca!

I was just reading about editorial planning strategies…

What if we put together a guide for our Barefoot Writer members to show them how to offer a whole bundle of articles/posts instead of one at a time?

That way they 5X their fees without extra effort on the backend.

The “Why” That Guarantees You’ll Never Get Stuck

Speaking of inspirational stories, check out what some of our club members have experienced since they joined the Barefoot Writer Club:

Most people who have a thriving medical career wouldn’t think of starting over. But Christian Nix was looking for a change. He was already dreaming of launching his own business, and needed the copywriting chops to make it happen. Today, Christian makes a six-figure income with just 10 hours of work per week!

Pauline Longdon’s favorite quote is “I haven’t come this far to only come this far.” In a way, this perfectly describes her journey to date as a Barefoot Writer. She doesn’t stop striving to serve her clients, reach new goals (seven figures now!), and connect with her global network of colleagues and mentees. Pauline’s continued drive toward success has landed her coveted spots learning from the top A-list writers in the industry.

Ernst-Jan Buijs grew up in a small city near Rotterdam, Netherlands. While still attending university, he was already thinking about the future. One thing was for sure… the typical 9–5 lifestyle just wasn’t for him. So, Ernst-Jan began looking for opportunities to build his own business. He was able to build a full-fledged, income-generating career as a writer — all while traveling Europe in a camper with his girlfriend!

Holly Rhoton faced a rough year after injury, divorce, and moving homes. But she didn’t let that get her down. While working full-time as a mammography technician, she built up her side gig as a Barefoot Writer and showed her three kids the power of following your dreams.

Joel Boomer’s love affair with the South American country of Colombia started back in 2015. At first, he just visited to perfect his Spanish. But then, he met his fiancée and decided it was time to put down some serious roots. For Joel, writing in the financial niche has been the perfect fit to support his expat lifestyle.

Laurent Duperval had always been a writer, with journals going back 20 years. But as a self-described capitalist, he wanted a career that would bring a great living. That’s why Barefoot Writing was the perfect solution. Today, this Canadian dad of three has built up a writing business through referrals that gives him the freedom to set his own schedule and pursue activities he enjoys.

As you can tell, for a lot of these members the hardest part was getting started, and the Barefoot Writer Club played a pivotal role in their launch point.

Others in the group needed help deciding which paths were right for their life situations, or overcoming confidence issues.

And that’s where the Barefoot Writer Club really shines.

I’ve found all the resources available through Barefoot Writer to be valuable. The courses, webinars, and the newsletter have provided me with a solid base of skills and information to get my business up and running. However, it’s the online community of people that keeps me going. They are supportive, encouraging, and generous. If you’re doubting yourself or struggling at all, they are there to pick you up. If you’ve got something in the works, they cheer for you. And if they find something they think will be useful, they freely share. This journey would be so much more difficult without them.

— Gabrielle King, Media, Pennsylvania

It all started with joining Barefoot Writer Club, and access to the Facebook group and the resources in the monthly magazine. All what, you ask? Living the writer’s life! Barefoot Writer Club is a community of supportive copywriters cheering for your success, and, for me, it was the initial gateway to the knowledge, resources and connections to make life changing income from my passion — WRITING!

— Tim Geiger, Peoria, Arizona

I wanted to reconnect with my earlier desire to be a writer and I also needed to make some extra cash. While researching online, I came across Barefoot Writer, tried out a couple writing opportunities, and settled with B2B Copywriting. And I haven’t looked back.

— Tasia Gonsalves-Barriero, Antigua

I’ll tell you something — often the hardest part about launching a high-paying writing career is figuring out where you fit into the picture.

Because it’s not just that you’ll want to define your own writing path… You’ll want to do it in a way that is enjoyable, profitable, and ultimately worth it to you — otherwise you’d probably just stay put in whatever less-than-ideal job you’re already in, right?

The challenge this club helps you meet head-on is determining not only which writing path you want to take, but also how it fits into your life.

You’ll do this by tapping into yet another one of the success secrets you’ll discover as a member of the club: defining your “big why”…

And then tying it to your writing work.

Here’s why that’s important:

Writers who go it alone will, most often, fail.

It pains me to say it, because writing can give you so much… but the truth is, no person is an island.

Those who don’t fail will toil away at their dream job for years and years before starting to make headway, often too burned out by then to try much harder.

In contrast, the Barefoot Writer Club is the only persuasive writing club in the world where writers at all levels support other writers with advice, enthusiasm, and motivation. And it doesn’t matter whether you’re just starting out or you’ve been in it for a while. Our writers are just committed like that.

Here’s the crazy thing…

It’s not like we ask them for lifelong commitment. We don’t pay for it. It’s not part of anyone’s admission requirement.

No, Barefoot Writers are committed to this group for life because of the nature of this career.

Think about it. When you have a group of people who earn plenty of money doing something they enjoy, they’re going to be pretty happy, right? (Definitely different from most work groups I know of!)

But this club takes it one step further, by asking you and all other members to figure out your “why” for going after an income-producing writing career.

Because money is nice, and so is the freedom to plan your day as you wish. Everyone wants that.

Yet there’s a deeper reason we all do things.

Stop and think about this for a minute. You surely like the idea of working from home just a few hours a day writing about things that interest you and making great money doing it, right?

But why do you really want that?

Headshot of Pat McCord
Barefoot Writing pays the bills and frees up time for Pat McCord so she can do what she really loves: write novels.

Maybe it’s so you have more free time during the day to write that novel you’ve always dreamed about…

Andrea MacDonald baking with her young daughter
Barefoot Writer Andrea MacDonald left standard employment so she could control her own destiny and spend more time with her family.

Maybe you want to make more memories with your kids instead of constantly juggling day care and babysitters…

John Torre sitting on a couch with his mother
Barefoot Writer John Torre had the schedule flexibility to visit his mother twice daily throughout her four-month stay at hospital and rehabilitation facilities.

Maybe you’d like to be more available to help aging family members with grocery shopping and juggling prescriptions…

Ed estlow holding a big fish he caught in a river
Barefoot Writer Ed Estlow goes trout fishing mid-week to avoid the crowds.

Maybe you just really want to spend more time fishing, or skiing, or hiking, or golfing!

Money plays a big role here, too.

Because you’d probably like to send your kids to college, debt-free.

Or perhaps donate more to your favorite charity to see its good work in action.

Perhaps you’d like to go on a cruise and upgrade to a room with a balcony, so every day starts with a fresh ocean breeze.

Maybe you just want to have enough in the bank to sleep peacefully at night…

Or to know you don’t have to work till you’re bent and wrinkled…

Or to be able to buy new shoes for the family without having to choose price tag over comfort!

Still, at the end of the day it’s not so much about nice vacations and expensive stuff…

Your “big why,” as we call it here in the Barefoot Writer world, is really about getting the most out of life.

It’s about spending time with those you love while you’re still here and healthy enough to be with them.

It’s about pursuing the passions and hobbies that fire you up and fascinate you but have never had time to explore.

Look, I’m really lucky to do what I do every day for a living. There’s nothing I love more than watching writers succeed at their dream jobs. Who wouldn’t want to be in a career that helps others succeed?

But I see the same kind of passion from other members of our Barefoot Writer Club. Those who’ve been able to successfully launch their own writing careers, who’ve had the luxury of stepping away from jobs they hated and can now put time and effort into the things that really count…

Making my way as a well-paid copywriter was scary and overwhelming for almost my first year stepping into the industry. Figuring out where to start easily got me stuck, overwhelmed and even second guessing myself.

What removed me from the stuck state was Barefoot Writer’s 9-step Roadmap to a Profitable Web Writing Career and reviewing the 1-hour work week bonus, the secret to generate many streams of income writing about anything and everything that interests you.

I’m stoked that I have a super simple plan to get going — and I have to say that their bonuses really helped me get focused doing what I enjoy writing about and the exact steps to start writing more about that… and get paid. 🙂

Barefoot Writer, for me, has simplified getting started and has helped me stay focused.

It is very easy to get stuck and overwhelmed with the nonstop information that we have at our fingertips, but Barefoot Writer has been my go-to for clear and focused resources to confidently make that transition from my current job into the custom-made job security that I’ve always wanted.

— Angela Loisi Laphen, Chicago, Illinois

They want to pay it forward. Not only that, but they do pay it forward, time and time and time again. The saying “once a Barefoot Writer, always a Barefoot Writer” comes to mind here.

Because once you’re part of this supportive community of writers who value a satisfying life above all else…

Then you’ll always be part of our community.

This contrasts sharply with all the other programs and coaching groups on the internet where you’re a member just as long as you’re paying a hundred bucks a month.

Today’s Your Chance to Escape the Status Quo

Imagine you’re done with working too hard and not making enough…

Done with dragging yourself out of bed for more of the same…

Done with feeling undervalued and unappreciated.

And instead, you get paid to write, and enjoy unlimited freedom.

That means you’ve still got time to do what millions of people are too scared to do…

Which is grab the life you’ve always wanted to live instead of letting the moment pass you by.

You have a clear interest in writing — probably even a talent for it. Otherwise, you wouldn’t be reading this.

The advantage of joining the Barefoot Writer Club is that you’ll discover easy and fun ways to develop that talent so you can make money from it and build a life of your choosing.

Imagine… no more commutes… goodbye to evil-eyed bosses… time to sell off the stuffy work clothes and forget the daily grind that means nothing to you…

And then replace it with…

  • Projects you enjoy,
  • Writing you get paid for, and paid well,
  • Comfort in knowing YOU decide what you work on and where you work,
  • Flexibility to deal with what life throws you — from kids’ dance recitals to medical appointments to being there when family and friends need you,
  • And membership in a close-knit community of supportive fellow writers… and future friends!

You’re coming upon the key moment of decision — the moment you’ll forever remember as the point when you stepped forward to launch your paid writer’s life.

And here’s why you know it’s a sure thing…

There’s More Here than Ample Income and Free Time…

I mentioned that although Barefoot Writers have always been in high demand, I’ve never seen the likes of what’s going on now in the writing world.

Communication has fundamentally changed, thanks to the internet. Nowadays, good writers are needed at every stage of the buyer experience, across brands, industries, and the world.

Because, think about it… how do you find information?

Gone are the days of the Yellow Pages… Now everyone just hops online!

If you don’t quite know what you’re looking for, you go to a search engine and type in a word or phrase, correct?

Then you get a slew of search results as well as some ads. And behind all those articles and ads that feature your search term…

Are writers, like you.

You can click any of those search results and see more evidence of the Barefoot Writing world.

Maybe you go to an article or a blog post or a landing page (that’s something that offers you a free report or other bonus, usually in exchange for your email address).

Maybe you start reading all about the company whose website you landed on… or, because you shared your email address, you get daily emails that further connect you to the company they’re coming from.

Perhaps one of those web pages or emails tells you about a product or service that interests you… so you check it out, and then eventually you make a purchase.

Know what just happened?

You just went through something we call the “buyer’s journey” — filled with touchpoints created by writers meant to speak to people who are looking for answers and information.

Flashy gimmicks and glossy magazine ads are still part of daily life, sure…

But it’s this buyer experience filled with clear communication that’s fast eclipsing every other way of doing business.

And all that clear communication is supported by one major talent group: writers.

But I’ve noticed an interesting trend…

Although plenty of writers can get basic writing jobs, Barefoot Writers are typically able to leverage those writing jobs into ongoing, long-term, paid work.

Because remember, the club doesn’t exist just to connect you with the skill of persuasive writing and to help you find your reason why… It’s also here to teach you how to make writing a lasting lifestyle career that fits your picture-perfect ideal of what you want your life to be.

That means Barefoot Writers are able to go out into this world of hot demand and pick and choose their ideal projects.

You’ll learn all the strategies, including…

  • How to flip one-time projects into years-long retainers.
  • Ways to negotiate a writing schedule that leaves you plenty of time off in the afternoon to laze by the pool, or even months-long breaks to trek up into the mountains and escape the summer heat or ski all through the holidays.
  • Tools to help you avoid typical roadblocks, because you can easily reach out to other writers via the club for quick-answer advice.
  • How to scale your project loads so you don’t end up too busy (it happens in a career like this where you’re in high demand).
  • Where to find plenty of support to guide you each step of the writing journey, so you’ll keep making progress, no matter what comes your way.
  • Ways to retain control within writing projects and how to negotiate your schedule, so that those who pay you for your writing shape their timetables around your schedule and not the other way around.

When I first decided to pursue freelance writing, I was scared to death. My previous experience was in the corporate world, and I was always surrounded by a team of experts to help me accomplish the task at hand. My job was to manage the team. When a challenge came up, I’d delegate it to the proper person, we’d work together, and then move forward with the project.

Then I retired and decided to pursue writing. I didn’t really know what to do or how to go about finding a job in this field, but soon came across Barefoot Writer… I had very little experience in writing for anything but personal projects or technical regulatory papers. Suddenly, I had no structure, no one to delegate to, and was truly on my own. I really knew very little about pursuing this new vocation I’d chosen.

Christine Butler driving an RV

[My husband and I] had also just purchased an RV and decided to travel the country… for three years. We had no roots. So, I became a true Barefoot Writer… literally… traveling (usually with bare feet) and writing while on the road. As long as I had internet access, I could write from anywhere.

But it was lonely. I no longer had my team to turn to. There weren’t any staff meetings where we would discuss problems and determine which direction to turn and where to go next.

This is where the Barefoot Writer Club came in. I began reading about others who were in a similar situation and faced the same challenges. I’d found my community of like-minded people and read about how they overcame obstacles very similar to mine. They shared the same concerns, and I’d learn something new from them every issue.

Christine Butler sitting on the ground with a laptop next to an RV

Today, if I get stuck… I can usually find something in the magazine which will resonate with me and get me moving forward again. The Barefoot Writer has become my go-to resource for finding what I need at a particular time…

This magazine is a great way to learn how to overcome obstacles and see how others approach similar problems. It also presents new ideas and how to pursue them. I no longer feel so alone. I have a team again, and we move forward together.

— Christine Butler

This is really important for you to understand, by the way. The Barefoot Writer Club is simply one of a kind.

A lot of professional organizations charge high membership fees for the privilege and prestige of being associated with them.

We don’t worry about that… because to be honest, you’ll get the prestige naturally just from being a professional writer.

It’s something we hear our writers talk about all the time, probably because it kind of blows their minds.

Not only do they make great money doing writing work they love, but there’s a surprising amount of admiration baked into this career.

When people find out you’re a writer, they’ll envy you. Studies show at least two out of three people in this world want to be writers, but most don’t follow that dream.

So to meet someone (you) who did go after that dream and made it work and is making money off it and living their best life in the meantime…

Well, that’s when the admiration tends to bubble over.

But it doesn’t stop there. Just think about the effect it’ll have on your children when they see you going after a long-held dream and really making it happen. Friends and family will admire your commitment. They may even be jealous.

At the end of the day, though, while it’s nice to feel prestige and admiration from people who want to be in your shoes, that’s not the right reason to follow this career.

The right reason, really, is to do it because you want to do it…

  • Because life as a writer is a long-held dream.
  • Because you know there’s more to life and you’re sick of feeling like your days are just passing you by.
  • And because you want to make the most out of this time you have here on earth by doing something you love, earning the money you deserve, and having the free time to enjoy all of it.

But like I said, we’re committed to getting the right members in our door, and I know not everyone is starting from the same place.

You can seal in this low price offer by clicking the orange order button right now to become a member of the Barefoot Writer Club.

That $249 is for annual membership to our Barefoot Writer Club. (Note: By locking in at that price, you’ll renew yearly at that low rate.)

Now remember, we are here to help you move forward comprehensively and holistically. Not only do we want you to understand the writing opportunities at your fingertips, but we want to make sure you succeed in the fastest and most satisfying-to-you way possible.

From left: Katie Yeakle, Mindy McHorse, and Rebecca Matter

So with all of these perks and bonuses, you’ll also get to know our team — me, Mindy, my colleague Katie Yeakle, who is executive director of AWAI, our content coordinator and group moderator, Rachael Kraft, and a host of other people fully committed to making sure you succeed.

What do I mean by succeed?

I mean that you start making the kind of money through writing that you want to make.

I mean that you’ll discover the kinds of projects most enjoyable to you given your particular background and interests.

I mean that you’ll have the skills and techniques needed to navigate the total (and sometimes overwhelming) freedom that comes with being a Barefoot Writer and having absolute command over your time, income, and projects.

And I mean that you’ll be able to really go after your “big why” and fully come to realize the deeper life payoff you get when you pursue a freedom-filled writing career.

All of that, plus our goal is to get you up and running at the rate you’d like most — without hitting the speed bumps encountered by writers who try to go it alone.

And with the low price I’m currently offering, that’s all available to you for just over $20 a month. You can’t even get a good dinner out for twenty bucks these days — but an entire writing career and future? I think you’ll agree it’s more than appealing.

Copywriter Heather Robson said…

My kids are only this age for so long. Because of that, I’ve never been willing to put in more than a certain amount of work. One of the big things about freelancing for me is that I was able to homeschool my kids through sixth grade.

Charlotte Crockett said…

When I realized I could do copywriting anywhere — and spend part of the year in Little Cayman if I wanted to — I said to myself ‘I’m doing this,’ and committed one hundred percent.

And Janet Grosshandler explained…

When I can slip away to Costa Rica for months at a time and still easily keep up with my business and my writing, I know how wonderful life is.

Brian Whitaker says he’s making more money now as a Barefoot Writer than he did as a corporate marketing manager:

I used my copywriting skills to start a small online magazine aimed at family travel — which gives me another excuse to enjoy the writer’s life wherever I want.

So you see, the opportunities to use copywriting skills are endless.

You can “freelance” for others. You can start your own business. You can write about your hobbies and passions. You can parlay your past business or personal experiences into making more money writing than you ever dreamed you could!
