I worked in a public library for 14 years. Gained many skills that tie in with copywriting. In-depth researching and interviewing skills are important in both fields.
Successful copywriters spend much time researching their client's product or service and the competition. I enjoy digging deep into this research and finding the benefits, ideal audiences, and event the negative aspects.
Often times, a library patron would approach the reference desk to ask for one thing. But in the conversation, I found they actually needed something entirely different. This is true working with writing clients as well.
