My background includes: 20+ years of experience teaching high school science with special emphasis on AP Environmental Science and two years teaching Chinese via distance learning; 20+ years of experience as a caregiver for a family member. Publications include a short story, a journal article, and a book review. I received grant funding for an outdoor classroom project. While employed as a science teacher, I received four national teaching awards. I credit my ability to write persuasively for my success in winning these awards. For six years I was the editor and chief writer for the monthly newsletter for a local chapter of an international women teachers' organization. In my capacity as a professional educator I regularly did workshop presentations both locally and for regional conventions of The National Science Teachers Association, the National Association of Biology Teachers, and for the State (Alabama) Department of Education.
