Professional Background:

The story goes that I was the last to learn to read. When asked why, my teacher replied “she isn’t interested in reading because she invents better stories than are in the book!”. I did learn to read but my passion for writing was the greater gift.

I am a licensed mental health counselor specializing in Trauma and Addiction. I have spent the last 30 years engaging with the world of mental health treatment as the concerned family member, the identified patient, the legal advocate, and now the clinician. What I have learned in that time ignited a passion to change the landscape of mental health treatment through education and advocacy.

My education and experience have prepared me to write on Trauma, Addiction, Interpersonal Violence, sexual violence, recovery and more.
