$200 Prize Winners Announced for The Writer’s Life Case Study Headline Challenge Contest
Congratulations are in order!
Three Writer’s Life readers just won $200 each for their stellar efforts writing headlines for an AWAI case study.
I recently put the call out to rewrite the headline for an AWAI case study I crafted long ago, and more than 200 people jumped at the chance to flex their creativity and pocket a little extra cash.
For the headline challenge, I asked writers to try their hand at the headline on Mike Connolly’s case study.
When I looked back at the case study, I thought the headline could use some extra oomph. So we reached out for help from the talented Writer’s Life writers.
Although it was tough to choose, I finally settled on the three that best followed my six tips for case study headline writing.
The three winners …
- focused on the top outcome for the featured member,
- were specific,
- chose strong verbs,
- wrote in the present tense,
- focused on the member,
- and made the headline simple and direct.
And here are the entries that hit all those the best:

Freedom AND Finances: Copywriter Sets Sights on $250,000
Salvation: From $650,000 in Debt to Six Figures Copywriting
Which one goes on the case study?
Patrick Barttels’ headline will soon sit atop the current story.
Congrats to our newest challenge winners! And thanks to everyone who took a stab at the contest.
Excellent work, all!
