April Issue: Yep, Just Say It!

April Cover

“You mean I can just say I’m a writer?”

That’s hands down my favorite line from this month’s issue. It comes from our Featured Interviewee, Kristen Stelzer, as she described how she felt at the beginning of her career:

And don’t we all wonder that at some point?

Yet life as a money-earning writer doesn’t require a framed degree hung on the wall behind you. There’s no “Who’s Who” of copywriters in your country. No licensing exam or credentialing board.

Thank goodness, right?

After all, most of us are trying to escape conformity and limits.

And creativity doesn’t usually thrive when slapped with parameters. Either your copy does the job, or it doesn’t. (And if it doesn’t, there’s no shoe waiting to drop … You just rewrite it and try again.)

This month’s issue of Barefoot Writer homes in on how to reinvent yourself while keeping the best of your past and making sure you’re well positioned for the future. That includes

  • Rebecca’s take on whether you should launch a new LinkedIn profile when you pivot to writing,
  • making sure you’re treating your freelance business like a business,
  • writing your way through life events like grief and elder-care,
  • and much more.

Plus, all three of our interviews this month touch on reinvention through writing — and in the most rewarding kind of way. Enjoy!
