How AWAI’s Case Study Specialist Certification Transformed Her Freelance Career

"Earning the Case Study Specialist certification from AWAI sparked my strong interest in this marketing tool. It showed me how case studies could forge connections with prospects and clients." — Leslie Blaize

After completing AWAI’s Case Study Mastery & Certification training, Leslie built a portfolio featuring the AWAI case study she worked on as part of the training, along with two client projects. That portfolio quickly helped her land firms eager to highlight their customer successes. The program’s resources – diverse examples, guided questions for companies and clients, and tips for repurposing case studies across marketing channels – gave her the confidence to deliver real results.

Earning this certification has already paid off in tangible ways. One project for a photographer led to a $10,000 engagement to write seven industry award narratives for a contractor client. Another client, impressed by her storytelling skills, hired her to write website copy.

"The Case Study Specialist certification gives me one more area of expertise to offer potential clients. It shows I have proven knowledge about this marketing tool."

Since then Leslie’s mission has been to promote the use of case studies and storytelling in the Architecture/Engineering/Construction industry.

Leslie champions the use of case studies in the Architecture/Engineering/Construction (A/E/C) industry. She created A/E/C Connect, a LinkedIn newsletter that explores the value of storytelling in business development. She has also presented to state chapters of the Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS) and appeared on multiple industry podcasts to highlight how case studies drive marketing success.

In today's AI-driven environment, Leslie emphasizes the unique power of case studies to differentiate firms, humanize technical expertise, and build authentic connections with stakeholders. Her commitment to this marketing tool began with the AWAI Case Study Mastery & Certification program and continues through her writing, speaking, and consulting.”
