Winners of AWAI’s “First Substack Post” Contest

Banner announcing Wendy Matthews, Nancy Paul, and John Panom as the winners of the 'First Substack Post' contest

Congratulations to the $200 prize winners of AWAI’s “First Substack Post” contest — Wendy Matthews, Nancy Paul, and John Panom!

We believe every writer should be writing on Substack (more on that here).

But when starting something new, most writers get stuck in the “prep phase.”

They research the “right” topic … study successful newsletters … read every writing guide out there …

But they never hit “publish.”

And that’s where momentum dies.

But not the folks who entered this contest.

They were challenged to write something simple, genuine, and good enough to share.

Because after working with thousands of writers, here’s the truth:

Your first post doesn’t need to be perfect.

It just needs to exist.

Congratulations to all who took part in the contest!

With so many good entries, narrowing it down to just a few $200 prize winners is never an easy task …

But we truly enjoy recognizing your talent and effort.

Fantastic work — and don’t forget to include your submission in your portfolio!
