Marketers Are Spending $80 Billion to Hire Freelancers in This Niche

Google search

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) copywriting is all about creating website content that attracts new visitors through search engines by appealing to Google’s algorithm. The goal is to make sure the site appears high in the search results.

According to SEO firm Chitika, 32.5% of search traffic goes to the first search result on Google, and 91.5% of traffic goes to results on the very first results page. And industry watcher BrightEdge reports that these “organic” search results account for 51% of all website traffic.

That shows why SEO is important.

But you can’t write just for Google. The copy must also be engaging and readable to real people because studies show that 81% of people do online research before buying a product.

That means quality content and copy that provides useful and valuable information. As a writer you know how to write in an engaging way that compels visitors to stay on the site, not to mention provide contact information to join an email list (so they become a lead) or buy a product.

That last part is key, and why SEO copywriting is a key part of many company’s online marketing strategy. Quality SEO equals more leads and sales.

Industry data from the Content Marketing Institute shows that this marketing approach results in three times more leads than paid search advertising (the little ads you see on Google). And data from BrightEdge shows that 40% of revenue comes from organic traffic.

That’s why businesses are eager to hire copywriters to help them with SEO … and are willing to pay them top dollar. It’s critical to stand out from the competition and increase their bottom line. To that end, industry-wide marketers are planning to spend $80 billion to hire freelancers and writers in the coming year, according to Forbes.

SEO copywriting is not technical. But there are some tricks of the trade you need to learn to provide this service. Russ Henneberry is a digital marketing expert who specializes in SEO, and he’s ready to share his secrets.
